Bad news for Miami!

There's a hurricane heading your way.

Please use this thread to update on the situation / status related to Hurricane Irma.

May God bless any in its path.

It'll suddenly veer out in the Atlantic, before hitting FL.

I wish only the best and that Logic dictates swift retreat. Unfortunately there will be those not bright enough to listen to warnings for whatever reason and updates here may be terribly unpleasant.

In a pre-Andrew house (so no awesome building codes) with no interior rooms in Miami on a lake with no option to evacuate due to the need to go to work.

The Gov. keeps saying to go to gasbuddy.com to find out which stations are open (i.e. HAVE gas), but I cannot get on the site, as it appears to be OVERLOADED! (not that I need any).

There were gas lines at our nearby Flying J yesterday dinnertime, when I went to their Subway to get dinner.

Has NOW shifted to west coast. European model was correct yesterday, if it does.

Our RV and the entire park (Camp Florida Resort) in Lake Placid will likely be in shambles with forecasted 100 MPH winds!!!

Our estimated wind speeds are varying, but no higher than 120, so we should be sitting pretty!

Way back 25 years ago (wow! hard to believe it has been that long) when the last CAT 5 hit FL, the state population was only 13 million. Now it is 21 million.

Wow! As bad as it was looking for our house in Ft. Pierce and/or our RV in Lake Placid, with storm track now WAY west, it looks like we dodged a bullet in BOTH places!!!

Unfortunately now it is HORRIBLE news for Tampa Bay!!! Coming in from the W or SW is a worst case scenario for those folks. Lots of low lying areas for massive areas of potential storm surge/flooding.

My bad! I guess Ft. Myers bay rather than Tampa will get the brunt.

NO ONE yet knows where this will eventually go. Projections are fine but, they cannot account for the many variables that will end up guiding this monstrosity.

My guess that it will skirt the western coast as a Cat 4 and stall in the panhandle is as good as any at this point.
