Bernie Sanders is a moderate social democrat, and would be seen as such in any other country than the Benighted States.

His domestic proposals are sensible and long overdue.

However, I do not think he is immune to the blandishments of the satanic American War Machine; I have never heard him subject it to the obloquy which it so richly deserves.

While I like Bernie, he's too far left for many Americans and many of his proposals are impossible to pay for. Essentially, he's proposing to make the same mistake as the farmer and his wife in the story of the Golden Goose. Instead of just being patient and taking what they get each day, Bernie is proposing to cut the Golden Goose open and distribute the insides to all Americans. That will hurt everyone in the end.
Thanks from Aufgeblassen

Hardly. He's proposing a return to Eisenhower policies with some ideas that the Scandinavians have successfully implemented. This narrative that he's going to steal from the rich all that they own and give to the poor with no regard for the economy is nothing more than capitalist propaganda with 0 regard for what the man is actually saying.
Thanks from numan

Bernie Sanders is a somewhat weird bird but my biggest issue is what he has done to my country by splitting a vote that allowed for Donald Trump to come into power and pretty much destroy the credibility and respect gained over many decades while dividing a once healing population. I never thought I would say this....but, I wish HillBill was President.

If Sanders was remotely like Ike, He would have easily won the Primary, and won in a landslide in November, with all that GOP support.

"for example, if we expanded Medicaid [to] everybody. Give everybody a Medicaid card—we would be spending such an astronomical sum of money that, you know, we would bankrupt the nation.” - Bernie Sanders in 1987

Sure, if that's EXACTLY what you did. If you imposed a tax to pay for it and cut out health insurance (for non-elective care as it'd be useless in this case) you could pay for the increased coverage without burdening the taxpayer. 30 years is a lot of time to crunch the numbers and work out the details.

As I said, pay attention to what the man is actually saying (note the present tense) becuase it's not what his distractors are saying.

Wait, he endorsed Hillary and campaigned for her. How did he split the vote? Blame Jill Stein, she was the alt left (as in other choice, not a play on 'Alt Right') vote in the election.

Bernies half hearted attempts did not slow his devotes for the most part and his pretense of being a Democrat gave permission to many for revolt.

The diehards that didn't follow him to Clinton (like myself) were never Dems in the 1st place, it's important to remember how many independents and conservatives Sanders had in his camp. Going back to what I said before, Sanders wasn't on the ballot so he didn't split the vote. That was Stine (no better than Trump IMO), your anger is misplaced.

He was definitely TOO OLD to be President, even if he didn't have way-out-there looney ideas!
