Trump retweets inflammatory and unverified anti-Muslim videos

Hat tip to RiaReab...taken from another thread but now hitting the US news stands....

Quote:
President Trump Wednesday shared three inflammatory anti-Muslim videos on Twitter posted by a far-right British activist.

The videos — whose authenticity could not be independently verified — were first shared by Jayda Fransen, the deputy leader of Britain First, which bills itself a political party but has been widely condemned as an extremist group that targets mosques and Muslims.
Washington Post

As commented on the WP Fransen has been convicted of religiously aggravated hate crimes. She was recently arrested again for hate speech crimes in Northern Ireland. A supporter of her party murdered a female member of parliament shouting out "Britain First", the name of her party, as he killed her.

What is the CoS Kelly up to? Anyway I await the spin from the White House.... queue Sarah....fake news presumably?
Thanks from RiaRaeb

Whatever you think of the politics of Britain First they are to be despised. In the UK we have the Royal British Legion, a charity organisation, strictly A Political who help our veterans from the armed services. Britain First have used the emblem of the RBL to promote their own agenda and collect charity monies intended for our vets. They also used the image of Lea Rigby the British soldier murdered by Islamists. This was against the express wishes of his mother and family.
Here you can watch REAL vets attempting to hand out the white feather to the leader of Britain First.

I'm not surprised either, that with literally 1,000s of tweats, an odd one accidentally gets re-tweated.

what makes for a "hate speech crime" or "religiously aggravated hate crime" in your country?

yeah, we had a Bernie Sanders supporter gun down a congressman.

Wow. scary Orwellian world you inhabit....

Quote:
In England and Wales the Public Order Act 1986 prohibits, by its Part 3, expressions of racial hatred, which is defined as hatred against a group of persons by reason of the group's colour, race, nationality (including citizenship) or ethnic or national origins. Section 18 of the Act says:
A person who uses threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour, or displays any written material which is threatening, abusive or insulting, is guilty of an offence if—
(a) they intends thereby to stir up racial hatred, or (b) having regard to all the circumstances racial hatred is likely to be stirred up thereby.
Offences under Part 3 carry a maximum sentence of seven years imprisonment or a fine or both.

I guess to me, yeah this is a bigger-ticket item than Trump retweeting something he shouldn't have (hardly news).

Just curious, are you good with this infringement on your freedom?
You realize it can be used to prop one group above another?

group x can bomb us and murder us, but we can't call them out or we'll go to jail or be called a bigot, etc.
Thanks from Ralph47

Mull at will.

Personally I'm a tad saddened by the legitimising of an overtly ultra-rightwing racist platform by your President without thinking of the diplomatic ramifications of it - forget all the other matters like bad taste that's just America nowadys. I know you idolise the lad so please don't get overly riled but you were wittering on about "fake news" the other day and now your lad is doing the same? Anyway I'm sure Sarah has it all in hand

I feel a "fake news" report coming from Sarah Hugglesbury Snotbollocks...
Thanks from numan and RiaRaeb

and here it is.....

Quote:
White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders defended Trump’s post as evidence he wants to “promote strong borders and strong national security.”
...and her staunch defense continues...
Quote:
“The British establishment no longer supports free speech, but the president of the United States, Donald Trump, clearly does, and that’s why he tweeted, as a public display of support for Britain First and its deputy leader,” she said.
well for me I'm glad that my freedoms are thus curtailed if it means irradicating views like this.

The British government responded...
Quote:
“The British people overwhelmingly reject the prejudiced rhetoric of the far-right, which is the antithesis of the values that this country represents — decency, tolerance and respect. It is wrong for the President to have done this.”
Therein lies the difference between our modern cultures and leadership.... inclusiveness and values

In response to our Governments statement President trump replied...
Quote:
“@Theresa_May, don’t focus on me, focus on the destructive Radical Islamic Terrorism that is taking place within the United Kingdom. We are doing just fine!”
I'm sure you are! So, good luck with your invitation to treat all the world's neo-nazi racists groups as friends and allies of the United States....
Thanks from numan

It is extremely important to realize that our current President IS NOT representative of our country, that his views and actions are not only questioned but often run counter to our nation and Constitution, and that many are anticipating his removal just as the rest of the world is.

It is extremely important to realize that our current president absolutely IS representative of our country as he was voted into office back in November of last year.

twitching your nose and tapping your heels together three times won't help either.

The 30-40% of our population (if that) represented by yourself and those of similar mindset are a minority and have been since the election which has been fading even more since. Using your "Fake News" tactic and mantra cannot change this. Nor will ignoring the Meuller investigation or the shady past and current activities of TrumpCo.

Plugging your ears and stomping your feet wont help, either.
Thanks from numan

While I understand that in your mind anyone who questions Trump, does not worship him, actually looks into his questionable past or even stands up for our Constitution is instantly a dirty leftist Liberal communist there is still truth and reality in this country.
Yes, Donald Trump is the POTUS...I simply do not like him or what he is doing to my country or the office.
Thanks from numan and Fitz

thank you for your candor here.
it says so much to me:

- that you would be ok with your freedom curtailed.
- that you don't see that this would lead to further curtailments based on politics and popularity and power grabs
- that you think making speech criminal eradicates the views/thoughts behind the words
