How to lose allies and alienate nations

How to lose allies and alienate nations

Quote:
It’s hardly surprising that America’s global approval ratings are at their lowest level in a decade, according to a Gallup poll, worse than in the final years of George W Bush’s presidency. The greatest drops in approval came from traditional US allies, including Canada. And probably more significantly, the disapproval rating for American leadership in 2017 was 58 percent, up from 27 percent in 2016.

The world’s distrust puts in question whether Washington’s exceptionalism can be salvaged after the Trump presidency. America enjoyed free rein to topple foreign governments through subterfuge or outright military action, operate the dollar, decide on how global trade should work and much else besides on two presumptions. One – that its leadership was ultimately making the world a better place, regardless of the damage done in the process. And two – that it was an adequately competent leader.
.

Exactly which allies were lost?

They go it alone w/o our support at their own peril.

That is what you total mugs are taught, because he used the word 'socialism' when supported by the whole of German Big Business. 'Capitalism' stank so much in thirties Germany that no-one could openly defend it, as you are carefully not allowed to know, idiot.

If you really think Hitler was a socialist you are a nutter in extreme need of treatment, even if you are life-dictator of Rome. Ave Caesar!

Hitler's gov't CONTROLLED much of German industry. The difference between that and how socialism operates is a distinction without a difference.

You are deliberately half-witted. See if they have books within reach of your backwood, there's a good noodle!

The ONLY ones that should feel alienated are the terrorists and rogue nations. Anyone else who "feels" alienated is merely emotionally weak.

To quote the statue of the Commendatore in Mozart's Don Giovanni:

"Your laughter will end in hideous torment before the dawn."

Ralph always reminds me of the dyslexic agnostic insomniac who lies in bed all night wondering if there mightn't be a dog. He is not quite a rational person with whom to discuss anything - and Oh God doesn't he go On (and on and on and on!)
Thanks from numan

...is that a serious comment...you are thinking that popularity means a big yay me!! Trump's state visit to the UK cancelled, for example, doesn't that imply something to you...?
Do you understand how the world of diplomacy and commerce work outside of this disneyland your leadership is creating for you? I do admire the American ability for parochialism it must be comforting to shut out the world and pretend everything will be okay; whilst the world slowly but surely eats away at your relevence.
Thanks from Iolo and numan
