myp started it but recently sold it (he still posts and is an admin). I'm the only original poster that posts regularly but some other old timers will pop in on occasion.

A regular poster from Texas, who joined this forum around the same time as I did last year, got perm banned few months ago and this place became eerily quiet for few weeks. It's advisable to avoid disseminating right-wing talking points and this place is quite moderate politically. There were a few female members who used to stop by regularly last year but persistence is a rare commodity.

Ya, solid left-wing and right-wing mods would help balance tings out and attract more people. I'm on a dieing forum, maybe I could poach some members to come over here?

We could certainly use fresh blood....and yes things became rather quiet after clax kept crossing lines to the point of his removal. We did allow him to come back under a new name, but he then repeated the negativity until it became detrimental.

I understand the whole left right bias perception, but if you look at the variation of thought on this forum....and the quite limited moderation used, I think we are pretty middle of the road.

And thats the problem. Moderate is no less less partisan than conservative or liberal. We need a more rounded community. As it stands, aside from some minor philosophical differences, this place in an echo chamber.

I've been on several forums; political, religious and professional. Got temped banned on a political forum, read the writing on the wall and left. Got banned for a year from a religious (atheist forum) for being "controversial". It seems the atheists didn't like my point of view. Got warned on another atheist forum and left. Why bother being a member if one can't openly discuss topics?

This one seems under utilized. I've been on a couple of small forums such as this. To some extent it seems pure frickin' luck. The key seems to find a couple of dozen core members to stick around to chat. It seems here all we have are a handful.

I haven't had any adverse encounters with mods nor do I have enough experience here to have witnessed anything I'd consider untoward or adverse.

What I do know is that when it comes to Left and Right partisan politics, both sides equally blame the mods for being biased. It seems to go with the theory that, as long as everyone is equally pissed off, management is doing a good job.

Point it out if I am wrong, but our basis for moderating, infracting, and banning has always been by the rules, not one's stances on the issues. You and I disagree quite a bit, but you've never been infracted, for example, because you remain respectful and follow the rules. That hasn't been the case with some other people in the past and over the few years I ran the site, there seemed to be a correlation between greater disrespect/rulebreaking and more extreme ideological positions and that is why it might appear as if we are biased towards the extremes, when we aren't really. But we are all human, so misjudgements are always possible too...
Thanks from tecoyah

Might I add....a Moderate stance in politics simply means one is not prone to the extremes and avoids being labeled or seen as overly partisan. I myself fit this criteria and feel it a valuable asset in evaluation of moderated content.

There is reason we seldom ban members, or even infract.
Thanks from David, arcturus88 and Aufgeblassen

one of the great schisms to be documented in the PF history book was the great gay schism of 2014 between polydectes and aufgablassen.
