The golden rule is more a "what" than a "why". I mentioned it in my first post as a good option IMHO, but falling short of a reason why. Maybe the why is too scary for some to look at.

Not everybody is a puppet of some God forsaken church. The golden rule is why, god is what. Unthinking blind followers are incredibly arrogant. It takes far more thought to come up with the golden rule rather than blaming a good thatnobody had ever seen yet miraculously always seems to side with you. This was my problem with organized Christianity, you guys turned God into some cheerleading side kick.

wow you're really intolerant. As it is, I'm completely fine and can tolerate all views put forth on this thread. I even agree with many of them (at least in part). Try re-reading the thread, it seems you are answering your own demons with religion rather than anything I've put out here.

unfortunately you seem to be disagreeing with things unsaid in this thread. in other words, stating "atheists are not sociopaths!" . does not counter anything ive said, but it may counter internal feelings you have about religious people or the church, etc. to wit, you're projecting your own stuff here. try to stay on point when you answer. debating by throwing out red herrings here and there does not constitute good debate and disagreement. its smells more like intolerance. small example: Quote:
I'd say its similar to aufgablassen posting irrelevant photos in your thread. it doesn't add anything to the debate. it just detracts from it. Last edited by arcturus88; May 25th, 2014 at 12:54 PM.
