That is a double-edged sword; then you have the worry that someone will take her away from you!!!

I am grateful when the toilet paper tears at its intended perforation.

Oh, I am also grateful for the Laws of Physics, when my car stops at a red light, instead of plowing into the car in front!

Here you go, arcturus:

grate·ful [greyt-fuhl] Show IPA
adjective
1.
warmly or deeply appreciative of kindness or benefits received; thankful: I am grateful to you for your help.
2.
expressing or actuated by gratitude: a grateful letter.
3.
pleasing to the mind or senses; agreeable or welcome; refreshing: a grateful breeze.
Origin:
1545–55; obsolete grate pleasing (< Latin grātus ) + -ful

I USE THE 3RD DEFINITION, which has NO "entity" whatsoever involved.

oh so definition 1 and 2 infer a direction, like thankful TO someone or something, and 3. does not. got it.

clearly indicating the "TO" direction. in other words you are utilizing definition 1 or 2 there.

You said whenever you are grateful, there always HAS TO BE an "entity" you are grateful to, I showed otherwise.

You implied said entity HAS TO BE a deity. I showed otherwise on that too.

Correct???

well lets get down to the crux of it.

i suspect your apparent avoidance being grateful "directionally toward a thing", even though you feel and experience this is because you fear that if the feeling exists toward an unknown thing (ie im grateful for this beautiful sunrise) then that points toward your internal knowledge of diety

if this is the case, and i believe it is, then, well... your fear is warranted.

No fear at all. In fact, I wish it was indeed the case!

It's amazing the lengths people will go through to convince themselves of things.

You should have said: "It's amazing the lengths I & other people will go through to convince themselves of things."

I am grateful that ice floats, instead of sinks, because the world would probably be not inhabitable if otherwise.

The NHS. Without it I'd be as dead as a poor American, or putting my kids in debt.
