The Concept Of "Hypocracy"

It seems like the words "Hypocrisy" and "hypocrite" might be overused/abused.

I mean, it seems like you can't claim a situation is hypocrisy, unless another situation you are comparing it to is identical, otherwise you are comparing apples and oranges.

For an (extreme) example, I cannot be called a hypocrite a hypocrite for being against the death penalty for someone stealing a 6-pack of beer and be for it for a mass murderer.

It seems like rarely you have identical situations to compare, therefore you rarely can claim someone a hypocrite.

So before you label someone, carefully look at the situations.

Any thoughts?

I find it best to simply "Think" the person a hypocrite rather than say it to them...usually they are not worth the effort.
