All people spy on each other

This fictitious story took place in a remote village where people used to bathe in a nearby river. To ensure security during bathing, the village elders made a “law” stipulated that anybody caught peeping at the opposite sex during bathing would get one stroke of the cane by the village chief.

Lately, the women bathers complained that they were being spied upon by a masked voyeur hiding among the tall grass at the river bank. Not only had the women complained, the men also complained they were being spied upon during bathing.

A group of young men decided to set a trap to capture the Peeping Tom. They got a few female relatives to bathe in the river while they hid at strategic locations near the river. After sometime, they saw a masked figure creeping like a rat towards the tall grass at the river bank.

The leader of the group shouted: "Catch him! Catch him!" At once, all the other men surrounded the hiding place of the masked voyeur. The Peeping Tom put up a fierce struggle but was finally overpowered by his captors.

When they removed the mask, they found that the voyeur was their village chief. Showing no sign of repentance, the village chief shouted at them: "What the farce is this? All people spy on each other, even on friends."

By now, all the other villagers heard the commotion and flocked to the river bank. Among them was the village chief's brother who was often at loggerheads with him. Surprisingly, he defended the village chief this time: "Big Brother, you should stop apologizing, stop being defensive."

Turning to the crowd that had gathered round the the village chief, he said: "My brother is not doing this for the fun of it. The reality is he has saved many lives not just in my family but also in your families and throughout the whole village.”

The village chief's cousin also came to his defence, saying: "This type of action keeps our people safe."

The moral of the story is: nobody is perfect, so don't look a gift horse in the mouth.

Thanks for commenting on the moral of the story. It’s all up to readers to interpret the political satire according to their point of view.

The needs of the many, outweigh the needs of the few.

Conversely, the needs of the few should not be overshadowed by the needs of the many.

Example of this is Obamacare (illegally I might add) is virtually cancelling the Orphan Drug Act, which helps those with rare diseases. They are going to be left behind to die with Obama's "death panels".

Please provide some level of data that backs up, or somehow explains your claim.

And...just FYI, the moment you added in the "Obamas Death Panels" hyperbole you became far less credible.

So, somehow saying something in nicer, less harsh way makes it any different?

Like calling a garbage man a "sanitation engineer"???

Actually, it makes it somewhat clear that factual information is relatively unimportant to you, that you have a very heavy bias in this discussion, that erroneous hyperbole is a part of your debate toolkit, and that one can expect a certain level of disingenuous discourse going forward.

Being "Nice" has nothing to do with it....being honest does however.

"Something else": How 'bout if we simply say that the moral of the story is: ALL'S WELL THAT ENDS WELL" - ?
