Got A Standing Offer To God To Believe?

just curious

Do you have an open offer to God to promise belief?

I have had a long standing offer to believe in him/her if one simple supernatural event happens which would PROVE without a doubt he/she exists.

All it would take is levitating me one (1) foot in the air for ten (10) seconds. Then I would be convinced, and be a loyal follower.

So far my request has gone unanswered.

Jeff Foxworthy does the "you might be a redneck if..." comedy skit.

I would say, "you might be a theist is ...you have an open offer to God to promise belief"

you're definitely a theist. but don't worry there are different types of theists. some believe in God as a caring interactive God. Others see him as more distance with little involvement. Yet others still see him as rather punitive and cruel for letting them and others suffer so.

welcome to the theist fold.

welcome to the theist fold.

The bottom line is I want to believe there is a God and an afterlife, because it would certainly be more advantageous than nothingness after death, but on the other hand, after this many years of no sign whatsoever, I have little to no hope that I will ever receive a definite sign.

So....which "God" would you pick?

What if it was Krishna that levitated you?

Exactly...so there is absolutely no evidence beyond the writings of humankind to show any of the thousand different versions exist outside imagination, yet you would accept them after you figured out which one floated you in the air?

More likely would be the LSD someone slipped you as a joke.

well I think it is positive that you have at least somewhat of an open mind to the possibility.

However, making it so specific might just make it too genie-like. Imagine 7 billion people each demanding a specific sign.

"If you cause 1 million dollars to appear in my bank account..."

Maybe a more open ended question, like:

"God if you are real, reveal yourself to me."
Thanks from David

OK, but it would take more than a vague revelation. Would need to be clear and undeniable for my scientific mind.

I actually thought I was experiencing a sign the other morning (seriously!). It was dark in the bedroom the night before, when I kicked off my blue shorts, and they went under the RV bed.

The next morning, I spied blue shorts hung on a corner a small wire metal table in the corner with a table fan on. From the commode, I could not see shorts under the bed from the night before while sitting on the commode.

I vowed to take it as a sign, if my shorts had indeed moved from under the bed to hanging on the table corner without scientific explanation.

After dump and washing hands, I lifted up the sheet that had covered the foot of the bed, and found my blue shorts still there. I did not realize I had another similar pair of blue shorts in the RV. Oh, well....

I made that demand and then he did... He's a ****ing asshole though, so I don't care that he's real. Not much point revering someone who murders people for not letting their kids be raped.

What's there to tell? A theist wouldn't be impressed and an atheist would reject the story out of hand. Such is the way of the world.

I mean can you explain this statement:

something you witnessed or experienced or something you read in the Bible or such?

I meant that as a question, not a statement (I just edited it putting in a "?"). Care to share?

I'm directly referencing the whole Sodom and Gomorrah nightmare but my meaning is more general.
Thanks from Aufgeblassen

So God's history of running roughshod over people and using brut force for punishment and correction?

One can take great issue with the Christian or Islamic version of "God", and still believe in one of the other thousand creations. The GOD is not the issue in my mind....it is the Mind that accepts it.

Sure, if what he did to Job could be called 'punishment and correction'. Yahweh is just a sadistic asshole. Sometimes I think Yahweh and Lucifer (who has very little that could actually be called evil attributed to him) had a bit of role reversal and nobody noticed.
