Well, to be honest I never saw this coming. In November 2007 Kevin Rudd beat incumbent Prime Minister John Howard to end Howard's decade of government.
Yesterday, Julia Gillard mutineed with enough support from MP's to overthrow Rudd, and is now the first female Prime Minister of Australia. The truth of the matter was Rudd was never Prime Minister material. He was no Howard, or Keating. he didn't have the mean streak necessary to survive at the top level. What Howard did to Costello was nasty - and proved he was worth to be PM. What Keating did to Hawke, likewise, proved his nasty streak and PM worthiness.
Gillard might have it, but truthfully, after 5 different ALP leaders since 2004 (in 6 years), I am hoping the Coalition wins even though I cannot stomach Abbott.
