Mass public rampage killing sprees have risen in Asia, particularly China, in recent years. Since Asia is not so "high-tech" as compared with the US, the unfortunate victims were killed for no rhyme or reason mostly in knife attacks, not gun violence.

A series of uncoordinated mass stabbings, hammer attacks, and cleaver attacks in China began in March 2010. The spate of attacks left at least 25 dead and some 115 injured. As most cases had no known motive, analysts have blamed mental health problems caused by rapid social change for the rise in these kinds of mass murder and murder-suicide incidents.

So it looks like anyone in China (except those with bodyguards) is at risk of being stabbed or chopped to death by others for no rhyme or reason.

In the US, gun-related violence is most common in poor urban areas and frequently associated with gang violence, often involving male juveniles or young adult males. High-profile mass shootings have fuelled debate over gun policies, even though these events are relatively rare. In 2010 there were 358 murders involving rifles. Murders involving the use of handguns in the US that same year totalled 6,009, with another 1,939 murders with the firearm type unreported.

In the latest case, an Australian student visiting the U.S. on a baseball scholarship was randomly shot dead in a small Oklahoma town on Friday by a group of three teenagers who later confessed to authorities they killed him “for the fun of it.”

So it looks like anyone in the US is at risk of being killed like a hunted animal by others "for the fun of it".
