Looks as though the Lehman Brothers disaster will be followed up on at the the G20 meeting in Pittsburgh. One of the issues to be revisited will be that of Banker Bonuses. USA and UK (coincidentally the countries who are worse off right now) are for bonuses, other countries like France and Germany against. What do you think about Banker Bonuses during and after a recession?

All these bonuses are part of the reason capitalism is so economically inefficient, actually. In that this action creates large volumes of stationary wealth.

It is the banks' money, not the government's so they should have the right to do whatever they want with it including giving it as bonuses. Bailouts are another story, but I am against bailouts in the first place.

They make me spit. This is symbolic of everything that is wrong with globalism, "free markets" et al...

Profit is all right. Unlimited profit is despicable. Don't even go to "without profit, people have no incentive to work and the world will grind to a halt"... People will always have to make a living and that is incentive enough. There is no justification for unlimited profits, it is greed and should be regulated.

So there...:D

It is the banks' money.
I thought it was the people's money? The Bank is making a profit from money that has been deposited by the people. The greater its profit, the less interest people are getting on their money. Paying huge bonuses to management, especially when the Bank has almost gone bankrupt, has to be totally rediculous in the extreme. Just shows that the people who were responsible for creating this huge financial disaster are still profiting from the reasons for the financial disaster.
