This is sadly true and makes compromise almost impossible, no wonder our Congress is useless anymore.its like being in combative training where the instructor says to fight at 50%. but as you begin grappling with your opponent, you realize when he tries to choke you out and kick you in the nuts that he is clearly not fighting at 50%.
So as a moderate do you lose? or say screw fighting with a moderate 50%,
I'm going to give it all I got and win.
so while there may be moderates, the ones that desire to win, have given up their moderate stance to win against their clearly non-moderate opponents.
Thanks for the insight Ralphauggie.I'd say that the "silent majority" is moderate. You mainly hear from the crybabies & screamers from the extremes at both ends.
Ross Perot...
Ron and Rand Paul for sure.
Dennis Kucinich and any West Virginia Democrat.
I am a moderate...I exists....question answered.
I was Republican for most of my life and voted accordingly, As the party drifted further and further to the right I did not and as it took this last plunge it became a far right party (among other things) I had to separate from it....I remain moderate while things shift around me.Serious question, not a jab. What makes you think that you are a moderate? How did you determine that? Myself, I am far right on some issues and far left on others. I could say it averages out to a moderate.

No thanks...I'm not really interested here.....no offense intended. What would the platform of a centrist or moderate look like? Which side of top issues would a moderate fall? I see moderates as those willing to negotiate and work together.
Here is example rather than siding pro-life or pro-choice, willing to allow abortion on demand but allowing states to put reasonable restrictions upon it. A give and take.
This is just an example of where I see a moderate. I see far right, as pro-life, no abortions allowed. I see far left, as pro-choice, abortion on demand allowed right up to last month of gestation.
Then I see clicks towards center from both sides. Example, one click towards center for far right would be allowing abortion in cases of rape, incest, and risk to life of the mother. One click toward center for far left would be limiting abortions to first and second trimester.
I used abortion as the example but this kind of thinking done on top ten or so issues, to determine whether one is a moderate or not. Further why is it so many want to identify as moderates?
