As of the new year, Estonia joined the Euro currency nations in using the common currency. The decision had been made a while ago and likely wouldn't have happened had it been decided now. Estonia finds itself in a potentially raw deal if PIIGS continues to have solvency issues.

Thoughts?

I am not sure they would have wanted to join had they known what was going to happen. On the flip side, the eurozone likely wouldn't have been looking to add anyone either.

I would not be surprised to see the whole "eurozone" thing crumble from it's own weight. But some of them seem very confident they will be fine.

Some of them have to be confident publicly even if internally they aren't just because financial markets rely on sentiment so much. Others might be in denial or might truly believe they need to save the institution because so much of Europe's time, effort, and money has been spent into this project.

I think Germany and France are the main supporters. If one of them said something negative about the eurozone I think it would spread like wildfire.
