If I "invested" in anything it would be undeveloped land. Very little upkeep and they don't make anymore of it.

Depends on how knowledgeable and risk averse your are. First of all I would only do it with money that I have, versus doing it with money I don't have, as in a loan. If I had a million dollars, and I do have knowledge about hedge funds, and want to do it for spec, I would put 100,000 US dollars in it, and see where it goes.
