Minority scholarships

Some non-minorities find these scholarships to be unfair as they believe that minorities have an advantage over them as they have such aid while they don't. In a way they are right, as there aren't many "White only" scholarships yet there are several for African Americans, Asians, Latinos and so on.

I think those type of scholarships should be replaced with something more constructive as they seem to cause unfairness rather than justice.

I really think they should do away with minority based scholarships. The problem is that there is such a double standard. Like you said, there aren't any "whites only" scholarships. There are tons of scholarship for every imaginable minority.

I wouldn't have such a problem if they weighted them on economic ability. I do believe that people who took advantage of their education despite low-income should receive a bit of a reward. Basing them just on the color of one's skin or their background is a step backwards.

I'm particularly poisoned against it because I just went through the whole scholarship trial run when getting into college. It may surprise you, but there aren't exactly a ton of scholarships for white, English-Irish, upper-middle class men. I can understand it to a point, but it just gets ridiculous at times.

I don't think minority scholarships are unworthy...i think it is a very good scheme under which the nation can find some good brains also...although they are not competing with everyone but they are competing with the other minority people as they have a full right of living and the government must help them

Yes, but when they are being helped, others are being neglected due to the fact they these scholarships have become "exclusive" for these groups.

Plus if these scholarships were based on income, it would be more fair as a poor Caucasian could get some help as well. And usually the poor are the ones who struggle the most to pay for college.
