I heard "next decade", but either way, it's good for the country economically, and bad for the environment....slurp....slurp....and he fills the truck's tank again~

It's a combination of increased production (fracking and such), lowered demand. Consumption has been dropping since 2007. Also, with the additional production, we're projected to produce as much as the Saudis ??? Not going to believe that until it happens,,,but what do I know!

Overall, I think we need to accelerate our transition away from fossil fuels and all other green house gas forms of energy. I doubt we will have the technology to reverse climate change (or stall it at the very least)....time will tell I guess. Otherwise, we're looking at an economic doomsday long before the planet is uninhabitable.

As I've heard it called "Global Weirding", the severity of weather is going to cause more and more severe disasters, the likes of which will make insurance entirely unaffordable, and beyond, bankrupt even the greatest of nations unable to recover. We are seeing just the beginning of the real effects now (mho).
