Although Paul fortunately ruled out running with a third party, an act whose only consequence would be to assure four more years of obama, he would probably cause the GOP to lose as well on their ticket. Democrat propagandists would have a field day with the many libertarian positions he's taken over the years, because the vast majority probably never even heard of libertarianism, and can't possibly envision a free society.
