We often see politicians who are caught in an indiscretion plead they are sorry, but addicted and then seek a couple weeks in a facility where they emerge "cured". I don't buy it.

Once an addict, always an addict. This doesn't mean I wouldn't vote for a sincere recovering alcoholic, drug or sex addict. Such a person would be honest about their problem. I'm not seeing it with most politicians and celebrities. They just seem to be using "addiction" as an excuse for bad behavior.

Politicians in this country have enough deficiencies to force close inspection in the first place...blatantly expressing it disqualifies someone immediately in my mind.

Ann Rice declared, "I AM an alcoholic", but noted she had been "dry" for many years. I think addicts can make good politicians if they are in the 'short rows' of their rehabilitation.
Another question is is sexting an affliction or merely a fun activity. The religious see it as an affliction/addiction, but non moral people may have no problem with it.
At the very least it is embarrassing to be made public. We as a society still- I think- lean more toward the moral side. Even those who see nothing wrong with the activity will condemn it (the just-in-caser stance. :D)

Sending provocative or erotic messages to someone you are committed to (such as my wife) is completely acceptable, and certainly nothing to be concerned about.
But pretending your possible mistress falls within the same criteria, then lying to the public, and then doing it again does indeed indicate something to be aware of, if not fearful of when this person seeks to represent you in office.

This guy either needs to change his name. try again in a few years....or go home.
