Taj Mahal is situated in Agra, India. It is one of the seven wonders of India. One of speciality of this monument is that it is a symbol of love. Mughal Emperor Shahjahan built this monument in the memories of his beloved wife Mumtaj Mahal.
It gives the message of Love to all the people of this world.
It makes it more special than any other wonder of the world.

I have been to this place and explored it too.
Its an amazing experience to be at the Taj.
Its gives you so much positive energy.Relaxes mind and body quite a lot.
No wonder why this place is a wonder of the world and attracts so many tourists every year because it truly deserves that spot.
Long live LOVE :!:

One more thing I want to add on this. Shahjahan's son Aurangjaib was against this monument and said that it is a waste of money. He convicted his father in this case. But when his father died he burried him there itself with his mother Mumtaj Mahal.

Wasn't the Taj Mahal damaged by the Mumbi terrorists not to long ago. At least it's the same building as the one that you guys are talking about. Please correct me if I'm wrong and if it the same building then it is one of the most beautiful buildings in the world. I would like to go see it in person someday.

No, you are mistaken. That was the taj mahal hotel which was damaged. Taj Mahal Hotel is in Mumbai, where as the Taj Mahal, which we are talking about is situated in Agra.

But you know that Mughal emporer Shahajahan had cut the fingers of the architectures of Tajmahal . So that , no one should build another Tajmahal once again .

Taj Mahal is one of the Seven Wonders of the World. It’s built with white marble on the banks of river Yamuna. It seems the construction of the doom alone took 12 yrs. It will be quite a site to view Taj Mahal on a full moon day, as the moon light reflects on Taj to make it more beautiful. Till date small decorative marble stone Taj Mahals are popular gifts to be given to the beloveds in India.

Not the fingers, the whole hand has been cut so that no one can ever build such a beautiful monument again. Tajmahal is just unique,a masterpiece, a true symbol of love. But its deteriorating due to pollution though measures are taken.

Tajmahal is indeed wonderful and it truly deserves to be the wonder of the world but what the authorities are doing is not promoting the true spirit of taj.people from all over the world come to see the tajmahal but in order to visit the taj they have to pay something close to rs800 but an indian only has to pay rs 20.this sort of thing should not happen as this is not an encouraging step for the tourism.

Shah Jahan also wanted to make an exact structure in black marble bang opposite the white one. Unfortunately for him, Aurangzeb had assumed the throne by then and imprisoned him (Not is a prison though!)

It is Mumtaz with a 'z' not 'j'. It means 'Jewel of the Palace' and Taj Mahal means the 'Crowned Palace' implying the best amongst all palaces.

Another interesting fact that very few people are aware of; Shah Jahan was a great architect and before the Taj Mahal marble was never used in any Mughal structure. Shah Jahan saw its extensive use when he fled to the south during Noor Jehan's rule. (I don't exactly remember which kingdom he was with...anybody?) He was awed by the beauty of the marble structures their and promised his wife Mumtaz a structure in marble then. And the rest is history. :)

I believe this is a very special place on the planet and contains more information than we currently know. It is a very unique building and created to look peaceful and not a city like skyscraper that is intrusive and makes people feel small. If I ever get an oppurtunity to go to India I know that is where I will meet my lady, maybe not....
