I'm sure most of you have heard of this incident in which the TSA allegedly harassed a passenger, who just happened to work with Ron Paul's Campaign for Liberty. He was pulled aside for carrying a large amount of cash.

The entire thing was recorded and played out to the media, read part of the transcript and listen to it here:

Frankly, I think it's getting ridiculous. The TSA has only been around for a few years and have an incredible amount of controversies and lawsuits. Granted flying has never been easy, especially in a post 9/11 world but the TSA really needs new leadership.

The job of the TSA is to ensure the safety of the passengers in the flight. They do not have the training or experience to interrogate a passenger let alone harass him/her. The last time I checked, $4700 cash can not be used as a weapon.

The TSA is just another creation of the state that is failing, harassing people, and taking away their freedoms. It should be ended as should tons of other government programs. The left seems to think everyone in government is an angel, when in reality they are people, just like the beings in the private sector.

Must say this has to be a good reason for anyone thinking twice before visiting the US. On the other hand, this is worldwide. There are very tough regulations on carrying huge cash amounts. Probably better to lock it into your suitcase. The UK and Canada are also very strict, and these days I'm carrying the minimum of equipment on me. Put most of my personal belongings in my suitcase, and pray for its safe arrival on the other side.

The left didn't create the TSA, the right did. The left didn't set an example of paranoia and unprecedented intrusion into people's lives, the right did. The left didn't provide examples of 'anything goes', the right did. Unless you think the Bush government was the left?

And there are no regulations against carrying large amounts of cash. If you take $10,000 out of a bank, they must report it to the government. If you take more than $10,000 out of the country, you have to fill out a form. I think that's it. There is no law anywhere that says I can't walk around the US and go anywhere I want with $100,000 if I want. That might make the DEA or the FBI organized crime units curious, but I don't think you can be arrested or detained for having money.

Some people go into these jobs because they think it gives them the right to push people around and they get off on that. It's in a less serious category than the police officer who stopped an ambulance with a patient in it and held it up for ten minutes. Same syndrome.

Just because they said they were conservative does not mean they actually were. True conservatives support small government and certainly wouldn't support something like the TSA. You can call it left, right, middle or whatever you want, but at the end of the day it is the same group. Perhaps I should've used the term "statist" instead of left.

Well that is just one of many symptoms of big government- power trips.
