1. (Bloomberg) — The U.S. is considering cutting off the flow of vital American technology to as many as five Chinese companies including Hangzhou Hikvision Digital Technology Co., widening the dragnet beyond Huawei to include world leaders in video surveillance....

The latest threat will elevate fears in Beijing that President Donald Trump’s ultimate goal is to contain China, triggering a cold war between the world’s biggest economies. In addition to a trade fight that’s rattled global markets, Washington has pressured allies and foes alike to avoid using Huawei for fifth-generation networks that will power everything from self-driving cars to robot surgery, forming the backbone of a modern economy....

2. According to a report by the Information Technology & Innovation Foundation, strict export restrictions on emerging technologies could lead US companies to lose $14.1 billion to $56.3 billion in revenue over five years, threatening as many as 74,000 jobs. The semiconductor industry alone could lose more than 9,000 jobs after a year of 20% tariffs, the researcher said....

Illustrating the importance of China, Qualcomm Inc., for example, got two thirds of its sales from China in its most recent financial year....

3. As a Chinese saying goes, "A mountain cannot accommodate two tigers", the US series of measures against Chinese companies have nothing to do with US trade deficits and national security or alleged Chinese unfair trade practices, but rather a veiled attempt by the American Empire at pre-empting China from challenging its global dominance. As can be seen in the report, the US does not seem to care a damn about its own companies' business as it tries to strangle the lives out of Huawei and other Chinese companies.

Using an analogy, finding that he could not get close to kill his powerful enemy, the assassin finally succeeded by sacrificing his 10-year-old son who was tricked into doing the job with a time bomb attached to his body. Not only US companies, many countries including the supposedly US allies will become victims of collateral damage.

4. The so-called trade war could end up as an outright sanction on all Chinese companies. Taking an analogy, infuriated by the victim's refusal to hang himself with a rope, the devil kept up the pressure by handing him a dagger, a bottle of poison, a can of petrol and a box of matches, etc. Eventually, the devil dragged the victim across the floor and threw him out of the window to the street below.

P.S. China may tell the US in any future summit (if there will ever be such a meeting): "Not only am I going to tear your mask to shreds, I shall also show the world you are an emperor wearing no clothes. I shall let you enjoy ten years of trade surplus with a long list of Chinese purchase ranging from high-tech US weapons to cutting-edge technology. Will you accept my deal?" :)
