CANADIAN GUN CONTROL: SHOULD THE UNITED STATES LOOK NORTH FOR A SOLUTION TO ITS FIREARMS PROBLEM?

A man on a saddle with rifle and revolver symbolized the west in both nations. America's character was the independent cowboy, and Canada's was the Royal North-West Mounted Policeman. In fact, the Lone Ranger would have been an outlaw in Canada, since Canadian law forbade carrying a firearm while "masked or disguised."
· · · :rolleyes:

While there is sometimes heated debate about which long guns should be restricted weapons, there is no such debate about handguns. All handguns are restricted.
To receive a Restricted Weapon Registration Certificate, an applicant has the burden of proving that the gun will be used for one of four purposes:
(1) to protect life where other protection is inadequate;
(2) in connection with a lawful profession or occupation;
(3) for use in target practice under the auspices of a shooting club; and
(4) as part of a gun collection by a "bona fide gun collector."

The first step for a prospective handgun purchaser will typically be to join a shooting club and to shoot with club members' guns at the range. Some clubs may observe the applicant for a while before writing a letter of recommendation to the police to attest that the applicant may be entrusted with a handgun....

After paying for a handgun or other restricted weapon...the applicant must take the detailed bill of sale to the Registrar of Firearms at a local police station. The Registrar completes an Application to Register a Restricted Weapon for the applicant. At this time, the applicant may show his shooting club recommendation. The police run a background check....Some police precincts conduct personal interviews in the applicant's home. The police may also visit the location where the applicant intends to store the handgun to ensure that the gun will be locked up. Interviews with neighbors and employers are not uncommon....

A Permit to Convey allows the citizen to pick up his gun from the gun dealer, bring it to the police station for verification of registration information, and then take the gun to his residence or place of business.

The Lone (despite working closely with tribal authorities in both history and myth) Ranger was a Federal Agent, hardly an outlaw. :rolleyes: Not unless the Canadians were arresting their own cops for covering their faces while riding thru a sandy desert.

Just ban the bloody things and be done with it.
That's all sorts of illegal. Fundamentally illegal actually.

The better way, if that's the direction you wanted to go, would be for the president to call up the militia. The 2nd Amendment is clear that it applies to the militia and the militia is defined as all able bodied citizens 17+. As the militia has never been called up (at the federal level) and is essentially everyone, the law has been applied to private citizens for reasons of practicality. Calling up the militia would allow for the law to be applied only to those serving as militia fighters and laws could be passed restricting private use without violating the 2nd Amendment. This will NEVER happen.

It is truly an untenable situation our country has created for itself. We designed a Constitution meant to grow and evolve but allowed our newer economic system to force it into stagnation. Human greed and power need have created a mild for of Oligarchy from the republic intended and massive partisanship feed the mutant beast.
The NRA now infiltrates our government with money and prevents what should be common sense legislation to correct a massive problem that has reached epidemic proportions. Similarly the Pharmaceutical industry does so with Drugs.

The Oligarchy is less and less "mild" as time goes on.

The usual degradation of republics all throughout history.

- explicitly trusts the media to report truth..
...and...in the fakenews today, President Strumpit tweeted that he’s going to make the USA a people free zone as this would confirm the NRA's overwhelmingly crass argument that "it’s not guns that kill.. its people". Daily Fake Times reporters noted...
President Strumpit has declared that all Americans will be relocated to Mexico thus protected by the proposed bigley wall being constructed to stop illegal guns from trying to obtain people.
It seems that despite Obama's failed past policies to prevent the spread of people (they just kept breeding) thus today Strumpit tweeted that it was it is time to ban them. In a White House press fiasco today President Strumpit mumbled and stuttered..
Its been far too easy for guns to obtain people because there are just too many of them, they're everywhere...I mean everywhere... which is all over the place... even here.. far too many to count… I can’t count… never could count… but I’ve been told that they can’t be counted!
According to the White House all guns will have to remain in the US, as explained by White House press spokesgal Sarah Hugglesbury Snotbollocks
its’ been a policy disaster from pervious libtard loonies allowing unchecked proliferation of people that has led us to this situation. Its’ got so ridiculous that in some places people actually outnumber guns. This is the reason that we need to build the wall so that we can stop people getting into in the US we’re even going to propose a wall on the Canadian border to. Its’ been far too easy in the past, all these people just sneaking through holes and climbing over the border fence, it’s just so open and difficult to patrol – it has to stop… its very unsettling for all our guns!
When questioned about how the guns will be able to shoot people in future Sarah stated that the NRA had come up with an absolutely fab idea
Dana Lashmebaby, postergal of the NRA, has suggested the US instigate a system which allows Guns to obtain people licenses. Guns should be allowed registered people on an allotment basis depending upon IQ and mental state. We see this as a positive response especially for remote areas where there is not enough mass killings we envisage guns being granted morons and loonies on a better than even chance. Dana, being a great people person, has also suggested that in certain cases guns will be able to get concealed person permits after taking a special course - How not to Handle your Human.
It seems, however, that some Americans are opposed to the scheme, certain black and Hispanic minority youth organisations have said that it may mean there members finding alternative means of employment - some have suggested hitherto unheard of schemes like the radical suggestion of actually "finding gainful employment that does not involve hanging around street corners!"
