I apologize. I left the US to scout out Mexico as a retirement destination right after the election. I've watched very little TV and had no idea how intense the coverage had been. It's amazing. The man breathes, and it's news.

I'm old enough to remember the Kennedy administration, and this is comparable, considering that the technology available to the media has improved.

I really didn't give much credence to the Obama-worship comments. But that is sort of what we've got, except it isn't worship in the 'all-approving" sense. It's more worship in the 'watch his every move' sense.

It was a fascinating political campaign, and it may well turn out to be a fascinating presidency.

I take it you're a republican lol. Obama is so popular because he's charasmatic and good looking (something we haven't seen in a president since Reagan). It's not like the media is shoving Obama down people's throats, we WANT to know his every move.

New to the forum? I'm a Democrat, and a liberal one at that. I was talking about the media attention. It far surpasses the attention that Jackie Kennedy, arguably the most popular first lady until Michelle came along.

Why did you take an observation about the amount of media attention as a criticism of Obama?

His wife is much nicer looking than him, also much more vivacious, except I wish she would stop this image of a Betty Crocker model as this lady obviously comes with lots of brains and has not been given the opportunity to take charge of projects with substance in them.

I think the Obamania is to Obama's disadvantage and probably follows a super Presidential election campaign that was fully focussed on the media, and still is. Sentiment however comes and goes all the time as with a pendulum, and Obama is probably going to go through some major changes in his thinking when he has to reconcile his own idealism with the national interest of the United States. He may find that it is not always compatible. Gitmo is a very good example. He started with a great bang, and it has come to almost a halt.

I would have to agree with the comment on Michelle. The amount of media attention on her is amazing for a first lady. I would even dare say more than Hillary Clinton on health care reform.

While I think the criticism in the mainstream media has been far lower, I will conceded it's only been a few months. Far too early to comment yet.

Although by this time im sure Bush was lauded for his frequent vacations.

I don't want to know his every move! I wish I never had to hear a word about him again as long as I live. I have seen "big egos"before.:(

Obama isn't a socialist. I am, so trust me on this. I know my own ideology and Obama doesn't fit. ;)

Also, a pacifist wouldn't order a bunch of pirates turned into swiss cheese. :p

Two words. YEAH RIGHT.

One word. AFGHANISTAN. (stroke pacifist)

Five more words. CIVIL LIBERTIES, LIBERAL, CORPORATE PUPPY. (stroke socialist)
Can you use regular sentences as maybe I'm a little dim on figuring out what you are trying to say? I couldn't make out the codes?:)

Sounds like a plan. Phrase-sentence conversion commencing.

Since Obama is encouraging state-funded genocide in Afghanistan, it is difficult to take the allegation of pacifism seriously.

Obama has not reversed and instead continues to destroy civil liberties through anti-terror legislation, such as the PATRIOT Act. Obama is a Liberal, and thus subscribes to the liberal doctrine of nationalising things, placing them under Government control. Finally, Obama continues to lick the boots of corporations, instead of fighting for the people, for democracy, freedom, and human rights. All this is directly contrary to what a socialist would do.

I like the way you put it. I would agree with both points of view. Obama is a salesman, and he is still electioneering after he has been elected President. Time to buckle down and be a leader, which means that you have to risk being unpopular as well. He seems to be like a dog gnawing on a bone with the health care bill. Surely he must have received a message that the way it has been going is not working for the people, there are real economic issues, and perhaps his focus should be in taking advice from people who are managing the economy in the country. Government is spending too much money, has too much debt, maybe time to buckle down and look at the bottom line for a change.

obama was elected because his followers, thought he was pretty, handsom, a good talker, a god and the messiah. These arn't the Qualifications that are looked for in a president that is supposed to lead a country. This president is not for the people. He has hidden agendas. Thats why we have a peremptory way of doing things in this administration. Shove it down their throuts, so to speek. What the people want, doesn't mean a thing. His changes are here and gone. Now its the peoples turn and he isn't going to like it.

Hidden agendas rubbish! He's not going to change a thing. Not majorly. Maybe some more corporate welfare?

Handsome .... ... you have to be joking! But yes, I have to agree with you, his strong suit is being a salesman, he is good at marketing. I still have to see whether he is a leader though. The verdict is still out on that.

The "verdict" is in with me. And it says he is a pretender.
