"Loneliness is the human condition. Cultivate it. The way it tunnels into you allows your soul room to grow. Never expect to outgrow loneliness. Never hope to find people who will understand you, someone to fill that space. An intelligent, sensitive person is the exception, the very great exception. If you expect to find people who will understand you, you will grow murderous with disappointment. The best you'll ever do is to understand yourself, know what it is that you want, and not let the cattle stand in your way.”

One of the best quotes I have heard, was the basis for my own philosophy.

"Life is hard....and then you die"

Thinking over the years on this, and expanding upon it I have incorporated a few things into life.

When one understands that life will often be difficult, it is natural to enjoy and appreciate those times when it is not. When one ponders the simple reality of eventual death, appreciating this life becomes forefront and "Living" it a goal.

But it only makes sense to follow the path of least resistance.

I like this philosophy:

DON'T PUT OFF UNTIL TOMORROW THAT WHICH YOU CAN PUT OFF UNTIL THE DAY AFTER TOMORROW. :D
It's easier to follow the path of least resistance. As i have learned the easy thing typically isn't correct.

Possibly, but it might be better to have accomplished 9 pretty good paths, than only 5 great paths in the same amount of time.
Assuming that the 9 paths are good.

Let's say it was a mechanic working on your truck would you rather them repair it quickly or correctly?

I can have both, because my mechanic advertises choices of:

* A good job done fast but not cheap

* A fast job done cheap but not good

* A cheap job done good but not fast

:)
So your choices are between two choices of shoddy work and to fix it correctly.

We must not listen to those who advise us being mortal to think mortal thoughts, but must put on immortality as much as is possible and strain every nerve to live according to that best part of us, which being small in its power and honor surpasses all else.

This is the true joy in life, the being used for a purpose recognized by yourself as a mighty one; the being thoroughly worn out before you are thrown on the scrap heap; the being a force of Nature instead of a feverish selfish little clod of ailments and grievances complaining that the world will not devote itself to making you happy.

'Philosophers have previously attempted to interpret the world. The point, however, is to change it'. Quoted from memory from You Know Who.

I notice this quote on the sites heading:

"Holding onto anger is like grasping a hot
coal with the intent of throwing it at another...
you are the one burned."
-Buddah

Is there a story there? Any thoughts on rotating quotes up there? even quotes on the site from members threads? I'd ask this in the forum suggestion section, but I don't appear to have privileges there.

It was supposed to change but then myp sold the site and the new management didn't keep it updated.

What say ye powers that be? Rotate new quotes to the top?
lest ye equate such powerful quotation that degrades existing thought into a lesser state....there would be nothing to replace it with.

perhaps...we can create a way to change things.
