...Didn't stop Washingtonians from having fun. A massive snowball fight broke out in the capital. The focus eventually turned to passing cars (including a cop sent to disperse the crowd) and ended with makeshift artillery firing snow balls at nearby buildings.

The Russians might know how to survive a winter but we Americans know how to LIVE! :giggle:

Well, there has to be living and living, and fun and fun. I can imagine in Russia some of the fun would be in getting to drink Vodka to stay warm. Probably the reason why they have so many poets and brilliant authors in their country. Like Dr. Zhivago?:cloud9:

I am currently where the heart of the storm hit as well (very close to DC) and its been the same story here on campus. We had a basketball game yesterday that was packed in one of the loudest crowds ever at that arena. Tons of snow ball fights, football in the snow, sledding, etc. as well.

Is there enough snow to keep congress and the senate home? I always feel better when they are dark.:)

There certainly is a lot of snow and it is affecting Congress as well- the Federal government was actually closed today: http://voices.washingtonpost.com/federal-eye/2010/02/federal_government_closed_on_m_1.html and with another 10-20 inches of snow predicted tomorrow, it could lead to further closings and delays.
My head will rest easier on the pillow tonight.

Alcohol doesn't warm you up, it just deadens the nerves. ;)

And it's at it again- snowing again, expected to get 10-20 inches. This is a special winter for this area as this is very rare here.

There must be some good photo opportunities too. I found this one pretty impressive:
