Did John Roberts purposely missread the oath?

Bloggers have already jumped on the mishap while Justice Roberts was reading the oath of office. Does anybody actually think he did it on purpose?

"I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States."

That's an interesting find, I was not aware of that "verbal typo". I think it was purely just an accident as I don't recall hearing anything about Roberts having any major grudges with Obama to actually want to kill him.

It was rather humorous though as Obama gave him that "what the heck" look.

No, he didn't do it on purpose, he was simply thrown off when President Obama said the first three words, while he [Roberts] was still saying the first six. Anyway, they redid it just to clarify that Obama did take his oath.

I think it was just a case of nerves. Roberts probably knew the whole world was watching and got a little nervous.

They did it on purpose and the admin called em on it. So it was fixed This is another "conspiracy" that I feel is a given. The right as shown time and again it’s utter disrespect for Obama, and it shown it will sink to any depth to interfere with any steps he takes.

To your 1st point, it's not required (we're a seculer republic) but Obama is a devout Christian. He also used Abe's bible, being a black man and elected from the same state, you can see the connection?

As to your 2nd point, it has to do with he fact that the US wasn't intended as a republic, ol' GW was declared king ater all.

We have military parades on inauguration day (a result of GW arriving at the head of an amy (literally) escort. We almost gave the Presidency a royal announcement but GW liked Mr. President better. The best part is how we deify our 'best' presidents. GW had an Egyptian style obelisk created, Abe had a temple built in his name and 5 of them had their faces carved into a mountain!
