Mubarak resigns- army temporarily takes over

I am sure everyone has heard the news by now that President Hosni Mubarak of Egypt finally resigned yesterday following 18 days of massive protests by the people. His tenure ends after 30 years of corrupt rule. The peaceful revolution has some speculating on similar fates for other Islamic nations, but there is still much to be done in Egypt before the country really gets back on track.

Thoughts? Opinions?

I will say it went better than I expected. I thought he would put up more of a fight. I still think everyone will not be happy ever after. To many demanding too many things. Example. We may both be happy we are getting a pie. But will we both like the pie we are served?:unsure:

This is Iran 1979 all over again...

Chaos after collapse. Power groups consolidate and form coalitions. Those with most power bring in "the students" to demonstrate their commitment to moving forward and addressing the concerns of the most vocal protesters. The coalition agrees that emergency powers are immediately needed in order to bring about order to be followed hard upon by elections and democratic reforms. The central group consolidates power, dumps unnecessary coalition members, controls the media... and reform never comes.

That is certainly a worry until all is said and done. One man does not make up a regime, but it's a start.
