A new report by the Council found that "many of the highest rates of dependence on Japan are found in non-electronics capital goods sectors — industrial machinery and components vital to high-value production throughout the domestic U.S. manufacturing base."

The beauty of counting on other countries for everything. Now it seems we can't take care of ourselves.

Unfortunate- yes. A valid argument against globalization? Hardly. Supply chains often get broken or crippled due to a variety of reasons. It is a part of markets. Relying solely on just domestic production would actually make us more vulnerable to such shortages because companies would have fewer supply places to buy from.

True enough. But is it a wise thing to turn everything over to the world? Do we not need to be able to even make our own machinery? We hear everyday how far we are behind in education. So we can't count on American brain power to be our only business. Maybe I am the only one that is not ready to turn my life over to the world. And I don't have much of a life. But I like having a little control of what I do have. The way things are now some dumb-ass could get the "world" to turn on us and just shut us down. There are enough of them that hate us.

I don't trust our government, why would I ever trust the world to give a damn about the USA?
