To avoid wastage of money in election campaign, why not Dems/Repugs alternate every 4 years. They will both screw up anyway. Why have this drama every 4 years and spend so much money on it. Lets not pretend we are democracy. It is a kingdom.

e have no king, so no. We're like the Soviet Union at it's end except we don't pretend to be socialists (though we do pretend to be capitalists, so we're not any better).

The Soviet Union was an evil, oppressive regime that kept its satellites in line using the fear of Soviet invasion. Its quite offensive for you to say the America, the most free nation ever, is no better than the Soviets. Are you nuts?

We're both state-capitalists (which isn't actually capitalism, closer to fascism). Sorry if the point I was making was unclear.

The Soviets were not capitalists. And the US has not always been as big on crony capitalism as it currently is, although it has always had a mixed economy. And we are not closer to fascism than capitalism (which aren't even completely comparable, one being a political system, the other economic). Been watching a lot of Zeitgeist lately?

I never said the Soviets were capitalists, I said the were state-capitalists which I pointed out wasn't actually capitalism. I also made a point of saying state-capitalism wasn't fascism, just that it was closer to fascism (due to the merger of business and the state) then it was to capitalism despite the name.

They were not state capitalists either. They did not believe in the private sector.

I never said that you said they were the same, but said that you said they were closer. What I am saying is they are not. "State capitalism" which you say the US has now does not mean a merger of business and state.
