I would like to see the repeal of the 22d Amendment. I do not like term limits.

I have been calling for the end of the 22d Amendment since the 1972 election.

I feel the opposite. We need more term limits (for Congressman this time).

OK. That is what I was expecting to hear.

So, what are your ideas for term limits?

I'll start........

There is only one term limit I would be for, and that would be, one term per person per that person's life time for any of the four federal elective offices: President, Vice-President, Senator and Member of the House.

Yes, I said one federal elective office per son in a life time. If you once are elected to Congress for two years, well, that's it for you for the rest of your life.

Now that is term limits. Anything other than that is just negotiations. Two terms per office per person? Why not seven terms per person per office? See it's either one or let the people decide. I think it is called freedom of choice. The key word is "freedom".

I agree one term.

Then nothing get's done. Ether eliminate term limits and get rid of the elections every year disaster we have or increase terms to 10-15 years or so and make it a 1 time deal. As is, everyone is in nonstop campaign mode and runs out of time before they can get anything done.

I really don't want them getting anything done, it seems all they do is spend gobs of money on things we don't need, in wars we do not belong in you only campaign once, in office is your time then good bye. Changing the terms time frame okay, but I can't think of much good our past four presidents did that was particularly beneficial, Congress men, some act like royalty pillaging and plundering others are abject dummies. I think term limits would do the nation good, keep fresh people in the office verses pocket politics.

A gov't that fails to govern is no gov't. Anarchy sucks, especially in the situation where there is a non-functioning (as opposed to nonexistent) gov't sense you have Rome burning and laws that are still in place. A weak gov't and laws being enforced tends to result in the military/police gaining influence if not outright power.

How do you figure that nothing gets done? Term limits means less campaigning, not more.

Throwing someone with no experience in elected office into the White House sounds like a stupid idea.

Not at all.
1997-2004 Illinois Senate (three elections)
2004-2008 US Senate
2008-Present White House

This guy has been in elected public office since Dolly the Sheep became known. It's a good bet he's got a decent idea of how things work, whatever criticisms you or I may level at him.

Upon taking the presidents office he had no experience as a president. So term limits wouldn't effect that in the least

That doesn't even make sense. If he wasn't President before how is he supposed to have experience as President? No 1st term President has Presidential experience.

How us any body supposed to have experience. It is absurd, that is why I posted it. Somebody mentioned if there were term limits there would be no experienced politicians.

Nobody can have more than four years experience being president. I was illustrating the absurdity of that statement.

No such claim was ever made.

He was saying no Presidential candidate would have experience if there were cumulative term limits (especially to 1) on all political positions, not term limits on separate positions.
