Apparently, he decided to be pissy and block a vote to help Americans in need by walking away after telling his own caucus they were going to vote.

I will no longer accept his claim of a lack of leadership.

He better be! The House Speaker did a terrible job in handling the fiscal cliff negotiations and what he accepted was just awful: $15 billion in spending cuts, higher taxes and no tackle of the budget deficit or the national debt. Just a ratio of 42:1. What was he thinking? Plus he got rid of Justin Amash. How did this guy get to be Speaker of the House?

I read 40:1 ration but who cares I agree it was a terrible deal for sure. How he got to be there is beyond me but he is there and we can't do anything about it right now.

....If only.....

"Nov. 29: The White House sends Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner and Director of Legislative Affairs Rob Nabors to visit the Democratic and Republican leadership on the Hill, where they propose $1.6 trillion in tax increases over 10 years, $50 billion in stimulus spending, $400 billion in savings from Medicare and other entitlement programs to be worked out next year, and the requirement that Congress forfeit the authority over the debt limit. The GOP reaction was swift and critical: “A complete break from reality,” said one Republican congressional aide. Boehner would later call it a “la-la land offer.” Republicans are particularly peeved that Obama was asking for twice as much revenue as he had during the election. In a news conference later that day, Boehner says that “no substantive progress” had been made in the talks."

I think that he will be around a while longer but he has lost a bit of power. The public is truly beginning to see him for what he is and they don't like it.

His re-election chances are nil now. You will see him until his term is up. Unless he steps down which is quite possible.

You were correct:
"
John Boehner was re-elected as speaker of the GOP-led House today despite recent infighting in the Republican Party.
The Ohio native beat out House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi in a 220-192 vote for his second term in the post, USA Today and other media reported.
"Honored to have been elected by my colleagues to continue serving as Speaker of the House for the 113th Congress," Boehner tweeted shortly after the vote."

In my opinion, this says much about the House GOP...and none of it good.

And that is about what anyone with any real knowledge of Economics and Finance would suggest. Austerity when slowly crawling out of a recession is IGNORANT . You shrink the whole economy and end up with less revenues, more strains on the safety nets...which already got stretched. It's an idiotic agenda that only works for a very few. Most " Rich Folks" even lose. Boehner is Speaker because of the very few competent alternatives...none wanted to be the poster child for failure and stupidity.

If he isn't he should be. You heard the man. He needs the job like he needs a hole in the head. He needs to work on his neurotic behavior. I am very tired of his tears. He can't lead his crazy people, so go home to your whatever. The vote count for Speaker almost went to a second ballot. Colin Powell's name was thrown in by somebody. Dysfunction, thy name is the Republican majority in the House, lead by the Orange Man.

I think he will finish out his term and his reelection hopes are not all that good. Though that is my opinion what actually happens is a different story.

The problem is that there is no one clamoring to take the job, Cantor has backed off. The Tea Party is a thorn in their side. So nothing gets done. Things are going to be in shambles in the GOP if this continues. Senator McConnell will have to pull the strings, as he did this last time with Biden.
