is in Afghanistan. Anyone notice?

Maj. Gen. Farooq Barekzai, the commander of the Afghan-run detention facility, said the U.S. had transferred around 4,000 prisoners to Afghan custody over the past year. Of that total, 1,376 have been released, including 26 who were freed Monday. The rest remain in custody. He dismissed U.S. and coalition concerns that the Afghan government might release hardened insurgents who might return to the battlefield and resume planning attacks.
"This is a baseless concern," Gen. Barekzai said Monday. "Neither the president of Afghanistan nor the Afghan government releases dangerous enemies. Whoever said this is not logical."

This not his only mission either

Mr. Kerry's visit was intended to "reaffirm U.S. commitment to our strategic partnership with Afghanistan and to underscore our support for Afghanistan's ongoing security, political, and economic transitions," the U.S. Embassy in Kabul said.

Reaffirm US commitment....with 60,000 troops still there, policies of nation building and occupation, no rights for detainees, drone policies, the billions already spent not to mention American blood spilled. Have the Taliban resurged? How is the government doing that we've propped up for years? Do we still care what they think of us, hatred towards the US any better now that we're still there?

I asked some very pointed questions;

Reaffirm US commitment....with 60,000 troops still there, policies of nation building and occupation, no rights for detainees, drone policies, the billions already spent not to mention American blood spilled.

I asking firstly if anyone else is noting that we're "reaffirming US committment" and if so...if we're indeed reaffirming, what is it we're reaffirming?

Have the Taliban resurged? How is the government doing that we've propped up for years? Do we still care what they think of us, hatred towards the US any better now that we're still there

Have the Taliban surged? How is the Karzai government we've propped for years doing? And then.....policies such as these....reaffirming occupation...reaffirming nation building policies.....reaffirming essentially US presence....that supposedly enraged militant Islam and many in the greater Muslim world....is that being noted. Does this Secretary of State reaffirming policies he once criticized bother anyone?

Or do you trolls just want to hijack another thread?

So you ARE complaining that the Sec State is doing his job? :rolleyes:

You've misread once again. I asked very specific questions.

I'm asking what we're reaffirming and if anyone is noticing. What is the current reality in Afghanistan that we're reaffirming, do you ever ask this question David because I see very few who do? Was Obama's surge successful, was the money spent and live lost "worth it?" We still have 60,000 boots on the ground, we're still flying drone strikes. Are we succeeding in what we're being asked to reaffirm? How is the government in Afghanistan doing, the one we've been propping up? Are our nation building and police training and government support and billions spent working? Do we have an exit strategy, are there benchmarks we can look to to gauge where we are in Afghanistan, what is our strategy, how far along are we in realixing our goals there?

What exactly are we reaffirming is my question. I'm attempting to stick to content, it seems a challenge on this forum.

By time and time again calling other people trolls or pointing out how you are sticking to content and others are not, you are showing that you are in fact not sticking to content. Knock it off. If you don't like the forum or our members feel free to leave- no one is forcing you to be here.
