Barack Obama on Gay Marriage - YouTube

That was then.

This is now.

Obama: Gay-Marriage Is Constitutional - Washington Wire - WSJ

Listen to the youtube video about the Constitution and how he believes it's a state issue. Firstly, note the huge applause where he claims for him, marriage is between one and one woman and how his opinion is shaped by his being a "Christian."

Then you go to his latest March 2013 utterings on the topic; “I used to teach Constitutional Law and I think that there’s certainly a strong basis for determining that, in fact, in this age given what we now know, given the changes that have been taking place in states around the country, that same-sex couples should be treated fairly and have the same rights to benefits” as men and women who marry"

Suddenly, it is Constitutional.

He can say whatever he wants to say, his supporters don't hold him to account, look at many of the spineless progressives who's values change with the shifts in political winds.

Our President is such a f'n joke, congratulations Americans who elected him, we reap what you've sowed.

Changing one's mind is a sign of grow and progress in all areas except politics. I will never understand it (not to mention he didn't say it was Unconstitutional the first time, so he didn't really flip on that anyway).

I note his "progress" on this topic is no longer founded with "as a Christian" on Obama's part. Wonder if his church and faith consider this growth on his part.

I'll never understand why many don't see this man's obvious hypocrisy and disingenuous political pandering. His defenders are numerous.

Eh... I don't believe in the Church or any Church, so that isn't of concern to me.

No longer a concern for Obama either. His 2008 interview seems to be founded on his belief...."as a Christian" that marriage is between one man and one woman. In 2012...a mere 4 years later....he supports same sex marriage, his Christian faith obviously no longer an ingredient in his 'grown' and 'progressed' opinion.

Almost like he's basing that opinion now on politics....whatever way the political winds are blowing.

Guess core/christian values can shift. Some see this as progression and growth, some see it as not being grounded, being a political animal. Personally, I think it's obvious hypocrisy on his part......the many Democrats now falling over themselves in agreement the exact same. Names like Biden and Reid were on the DOMA in 1996. Today, both of these men have "progressed" apparently, they've 'grown' to change their minds.

What they're trying to grow is constitituents and their values will shift with the political winds exposing these individuals as followers....not leaders. Hypocrisy blind to some observers, but it's too obvious here to ignore. Only his most ardent supporters would defend him.

Aint' that right......myp?

First off and as I said before, views should always be open to shifting. Second, what politician hasn't shifted views or misled anyway?

Oh, the "everyone does it" defense, nice.

And this President seems to not only excel at hypocrisy and two-faced blatant statements that it's very hard tom understand...for me anyway....why he enjoys any support whatsoever. He disassociated himself from his Pastor of 20-30 years after telling us he could never do such a thing. Explained to voters that debt extensions were unamerican and unpatriotic. Promised he'd cut budget deficits in half. Claimed the facility at Gitmo was the primary eyesore shaping our reputation abroad, claimed Bush's militar tribunals denied human rights. Tells the unions I'll be right behind you and walk with you, doesn't show in Wisconsin when needed. From shovel ready jobs to his absolute flip flop here on gay marriage, this man isn't grounded myp. He's not a leader. And simply and matter of factly, many of you flat out are in denial to that fact.

We've elected a circus clown, anyone can see that.

I agree with much of what you said. But with so many others in office doing the same thing I am not sure it makes a lot of difference. I truly believe America gets the government it deserves. And now we see the fruit of our elections. To me that just means more people disagree with me than agree with me. Good part about that? I care less everyday. Much of our country that I loved and trusted is already gone. Now all I can do is stand on the bank and watch it float away. It will never return. So no need to even be mad anymore. Just sad.:(

Lol the futility of partisan politics. Keep on hatin'

Politics partisan or otherwise isn't 'hate', those who believe denial the river in Egypt often accuse hate or make some other personal jab when they've run out of argument. No one can defend this latest flip fllop by Obama, it obviously isn't grounded in any values or foundation, it's a political ploy. That you hook, line, and sinker believe is genuine.

Denial ain't no river in Egypt, myp.

I appreciate the sentiment, D, I just cannot concur. The love and trust you've lost can be regained, there are countless times where this nation fell from grace or we constituents became disillusioned, we owe it to our children not to stand on the bank and observe.

I'm just at a losss how this President can absolutely flip flop on any issue. It never matters what he said in the past, he can continue to teleprompter anything he likes and when called out on it, his hysterical defenders blame "hate" or "racism."

He is on record a mere 5 years ago taking the exact opposite view on same sex marriage. "As a Christian" he cares to mention as the crowd he speaks to applauds him. He feels the political wind shift and all of the sudden it's a federal issue and today sees no definition of marriage coming from the President that begins with "as a Christian."

And perhaps the funniest joke we've seen on this thread, some members actually referring to this political flip flop as 'growth' or 'progress.'

I mean......good God.

The great divide of our time in history isn't going to be seen as that between the Democrats and Republicans or the pro-Obama and anti-Obama or even the statists and "non"-statists, it is going to be between those who accept science, intellectual integrity, and logic vs. those who stick to ideology, partisanship, and dogmatism.

We all know which side won the debate last time...

Fish fear me. A savage fish slayer, I have landed quite a few viscious fighters, more than a few bone strong strikers....and even tame and even cooperative fish.

And then of course there are those that swallow the entire hook...and yes.....even line and sinker. So quick to strike at anything moving, afraid perhaps to miss out. Not grounded, unstable and insecure, many fish will grasp at whatever seems the sure meal. Many other fins seem to realize the bait isn't real....that they're being manipulated....baited....ensnared. Many strike so quickly, they knock fellow members of the school offtrack, they leap in without hesitation, without taking measure.

Reminds me of this same sex marriage debate.

Happy Easter, Forum. To you and yours.

Even the gullible.
