Ever since i was a kid i was facsinated to see the pyramids of egypt, not just because of their size but because there is so much history and also mystery involved in them, although historians and archeologists give different theories on how they were made but no one knows for sure. This topic is for those who get amazed by looking at and thinking about the pyramids of Egypt.

Yes, the pyramids and especially the Pharaohs are fascinating. I saw a history channel show the other day discussing the Curse of King Tuts Tombs. Weird coincidences.

It does amaze me how those things were built, and also the many traps found inside of them. It's also unbelievable how some of those traps still work even after hundreds of years have gone by as if I remember correctly some thieves have often died trying to break in.

I have a similar thinking. I get fascinated even by the name Pyramids, Mummy's and Pharaohs etc. Its not because of their build, but their history and beliefs. Maybe someday I'll be able to see the Egyptian mummy's rise back ;). One of the Egyptian queens, I don't remember the name, was considered the most beautiful woman of the world.

I think may be your talking about Cleopatra. The beauty with brains, a very romantic lady who rapped herself in a carpet and got presented to her lover :)

I'm hope that I have afford soon to go to Egypt and see them with my own eyes.

You read my mind Jan i do dream of going there,it will be worth spending money on such trip and it is my dream to go there atleast once in this lifetime.the best thing about them is that there are a lot of conspiracy theories involved in it,my favourite is that egyptians didn't have the technology to build the pyramids and they build them with the help of ALIENS.sounds funny but you will find a lot of weird theories related to pyramids if you want to find.

I'm mean, how can they do a sculpture like that for more than 2000 years ago? Must be something behind this.... ;)

Well actually some would be ashamed to see the pyramids, as most of the work were done previously by slaves.. I'm sure you know this, but I think the higher class treated the lower class like slaves, and they had to move heavy rocks and all only with really simple machines.. so I don't think it was such a great accomplishment (I mean using that many men for such 1 person is ridiculous.., just so cruel).

That's not me though, I want to see the pyramids asap! :D (probably won't get a chance in my life to though)

Yeah, things like this always make me wonder.. what special tools did they actually have to create these amazing sculptures and really tall structures? They must've used at least 10,000 slaves just for 1 pyramid, and probably took their whole life time to finish, while getting paid almost nothing to trash, feel horribly sorry for them. And probably a quarter of them died during their worktime, since building tall structures is so dangerous.. damn if I was born during that time.. scary thought :s

There were a few new reports though that said it wasn't slaves who had done the work on a number of the pyramids. They found worker's graves lying in the shadow of a pyramid, which would have been far too great of an honor for a slave during that time. Seems that it might have been standard artisans doing a lot of the work...still would have been brutal though.

It is always amazing to see what people in the past were able to do through concentration and planning. There are structures all over the world that just boggle the mind, although the pyramids are easily the most impressive.

I think every kid in the world has been fascinated with Egyptian culture. I was among those fanatic kids, driving into everything I could to learn more about them. But what I find crazy about them is that art-wise, the pyramids are nothing like anything else in Egyptian culture. I know that the first step-pyramids were built to symbolize the great mound in which creation sprang from, but other than that symbolism it's completely unique. I don't buy the theories that another culture created them, like Atlantis or the Martian Manhunters friends. I think that's taking away the genius of the Ancient Egyptians.
I recently saw a History Channel event on "The Lost Pyramid". Apparently on a hilltop at Abu Rawash visible at the Giza there was a fourth pyramid that was tore down later for building materials. It was built by Djedefre the son of Pharaoh Khufu. Anyhow, it was very interesting. If you come across it on the History Channel (which now is the network that shows nothing but shows about the Apocalypse and the destruction of Earth) DVR it!

Yes. Since they don't have heavy equipment back then, I have been amazed on how did they manage to complete the towering pyramids. Many paranormal experts have once said that Egyptians are once helped by aliens in building that structure. Did any of you beleive in this?

Personally, I just think that the Egyptians did it with a lot of blood, sweat and tears. Saying they needed aliens to do it just undermines the sacrifices made to produce these wonders.
