It's Not All Over

Car bombs in Ramidi (Anbar Province, Iraq). 19 people were killed. 81 were wounded.

There were three bombs in a coordinated attack - one exploding after another.

It was all directed against civilian targets. The Iraqi police have control over the province, so it wasn't against foreign troops.

I wonder about the significance of nobody claiming responsibility for the attack as yet.

But either way, methinks it may not all be over in Iraq, just yet.

Iraq is strong if not stable. Any relevant rebellion would be crushed before doing anything truly notable. I would think this fact would be a reason that none have admitted to the attack.

You don't think three car bombs are major enough for you?

There is speculation and the Iraqi Government's opinion that Al Qaeda was behind it, but there's nothing to confirm the theory. Not until someone claims responsibility.

However, i agree that it's difficult to predict a large-scale escalation.

It is major. Thus none are stupid enough to admit to it. :p If you think this gov't is any less brutal then Saddam, you're kidding yourself.

I don't think so at all.

US-placed regimes usually tend to be the most brutal.

Then my point stands even better. No relevant rebellion can exist without getting crushed. Major 1 time attacks can happen but not much more unless they have a death wish and if that's the case, a few more attacks then they die and no more rebellion.

Indeed.

Debates are so boring when everyone agrees.

My greatest worry is Iran! Do you think Iran could be sponsoring Al Qaeda for example, as I'm almost certain Iran is sallivating the moment that they can crash into Iraq, and working on unrest to keep it unstable seems to be a tactic that they would be an expert at.

Personally, i don't think Iran are involved. It's either overspill from the shi'ite/shia divide or Al Qaeda.

Iran doesn't support Al Qaeda. You may be mixing that up with the PLO, whom they do?

Right, I do have an understanding for the PLO, and hence Israel vs Iran ... etc.... and maybe you have a good point about Al Qaeda, but I do seriously believe Iran has some real scores to settle with Iraq, including a few territories to be had, etc. etc. etc. ....
