It is interesting that the one country in the Middle East that the American Deep State has not been able to get its claws into has, up to now, been so singularly free from terrorist attacks.
.
Iran is basicly Europe with better food and is as much a theocracy as the UK (Ahmadinejad years aside). The Persians are too rich and educated to fall into the militant radicalism that causes most terrorism (the so-called Islamic Revolution was a liberal uprising that got hijacked at the end, not a theocratic takeover) and up until they started killing IS scum hadn't poked the Mideast hornet's nest to provoke outside attacks like today's.
Indeed the Iranians are of the mind that while the IS did the actual fighting, it was SA that planned and paid for the whole thing. Considering the Saudis are invading Yemen (and losing hilariously badly) and picking a fight with Qatar this does seem like a logical conclusion on their part.
We really are backing the wrong horse in the Mideast and I really wish we could shake Cold War grudges and back the stable, not crazy major Islamic power in the region. The Saudis are going to be broke by 2020 (not even 3 years) and once they can't bribe the bedouins anymore that country is going to fall apart faster than Syria did.
