GOP wins gubernatorial elections in Nj and Va

Bob Mcdonnell won the Virginia governorship last night and Chris Christie won in NJ. Both offices are currently held by Democrats. Republicans also won the attorney general and delegate offices in Virginia.

The biggest Democrat victory of the night was by Bill Owens in the 23rd district of New York after the conservative vote was split after the Republican candidate dropped out as many conservatives supported conservative party candidate Hoffman instead.

Other results of the night include Bloomberg winning a third term as mayor of New York City and Menino winning reelection as mayor of Boston.

No, exit polls indicated that voters just didn't like the incumbents. I forget which election it was (VA I think) but 1 exit poll had 70% of those that voted Republican supporting President Obama. Similar results have been shown everywhere. Remember, the Dems increased their Congressional majority.

Now what will be telling is if the Repubs makes a comeback in the mid-terms. If so, the president can kiss a 2nd term goodbye. My interest is in the 2014 mid-terms as that will likely decide if the country will be moving to the left or right for the next 15-20 years.

The Republicans picked up a couple of governors. I am not worried about the Republicans going down for long. The Democrats are being "stupid" just like the Republicans were. Too much talking and not enough listening. Why does every party that wins a couple of elections think the have a "overwhelming mandate"? They think the world agrees with them and go wild!

Very true. Maybe someday we will have a "serious" 3rd party in this country. Right now I think too many people feel they are "throwing away" their vote if they vote for a 3rd party.

Yes, and when they vote for one of the main parties, they feel they're just voting for the lesser of two evils - the preferred one of two different factions of the Business Party.
