With all of the Fake News coming out of NBC and the Networks, at what point is it appropriate to challenge their License? Bad for country!

This morning, our President suggested that NBC should have its license pulled due to the "Fake News" coming out of the company. Ignoring the fact that there is no license to pull and that isn't how news companies work, how is this pretty blatantly anti-First Amendment rhetoric vibing with the conservatives here? I have a feeling if Obama suggested shutting down conservative news stations we'd have Yahoos with guns in the streets. But, I have a feeling that conservatives are going to shrug this anti-First Amendment speak off like they have every other misdeed from our President.
Should this come to pass our country is pretty much toasted dictatorship.

That guy that won the Nobel prize for economics the other day... can’t remember his name.. anyway wasn’t that based on the same sort of psychological principal... behaviour patterns? Actually you have a valid point. This entire "Fake News" phenomenon is based on the premise and is one of the dominant propaganda techniques. Unfortunately it is effective right now due to a combination of political dissent and gullibility of enough of the population.
This is used with great success in places like Russia, I never believed it would work here...I was wrong.

The soundbite "fake news" is a distraction... think about it, the basis of the news article is subsumed in the argument of "fake news" and the tweet or whatever becomes lost or a secondary issue. Its a smoke screen to bury the issue.

The Fairness Doctrine was a policy of the United States Federal Communications Commission (FCC), introduced in 1949, that required the holders of broadcast licenses both to present controversial issues of public importance and to do so in a manner that was — in the Commission's view — honest, equitable, and balanced. The FCC eliminated the policy in 1987 and removed the rule that implemented the policy from the Federal Register in August 2011.

The Fairness Doctrine had two basic elements: It required broadcasters to devote some of their airtime to discussing controversial matters of public interest, and to air contrasting views regarding those matters. Stations were given wide latitude as to how to provide contrasting views: It could be done through news segments, public affairs shows, or editorials. The doctrine did not require equal time for opposing views but required that contrasting viewpoints be presented. The demise of this FCC rule has been considered by some to be a contributing factor for the rising level of party polarization in the United States.
