Trump, Putin and the Intelligence "Hacks" and meddling in elections

I was listening to Trump's press conference yesterday especially the bit about him believing every syllable Putin utters about hacking...Did you see it? Listening to it was really funny as Trump seems to have been running his mouth off again criticised, several former top Intelligence agency officials saying they were "political hacks" for telling Trump that the Russians do actually have a case to answer. Anyway, the bozo goes on TV announcing that whatever Putin tells him about all this Russian hacking business...

He absolutely did not meddle in our election, he did not do what they are saying he did. Everytime he sees me he says he didn't do that I Believe..I really believe that when he tells me that he means it

...okay... so he takes as gospel all that Darth Putin tells him over his own guys?? Meh..fellas' got the intellect of a cheese sandwich so I guess that’s about right anyway. Did you hear his qualification about his comments against former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper and former CIA Director John Brennanon and the other lad (can't remember his name) at his press conference .. it was priceless...

What I said there, I'm surprised that there's any conflict on this. What I said there is that I believe he believes that, and that's very important for somebody to believe. I believe that he feels that he and Russia did not meddle in the election. As to whether I believe it or not, I'm with our agencies, especially as currently constituted with their leadership. I believe in our intel agencies, our intelligence agencies. I've worked with them very strongly. There weren’t seventeen as was previously reported; there were actually four. But they were saying there was seventeen; there were actually four. But as currently led by fine people, I believe very much in our intelligence agencies.

So you Americans spend gazillions of clams on your plethora of intelligence agencies (could be between four to seventeen but hey who's counting) and have legions of folk all working their tripe out trying to protect you and your systems from all this cyber stuff and then there are these career intelligence officers... the guys that actually run these agencies saying "well hold it their Hoss this is actually happening" and this Trump wazzock says NIET! and then sucks up whatever Putin tells him!? Ya gotta love the guy. I bet Putin treats him like an old family pet spaniel; in he shuffles with whatshername tagging along and Putin tosses the lad a doggie bikkie to which he rolls over, tongue out panting for a tummy rub while Putin’s' got his hands up whatshernames bra twiddling her mashynibblicks.

Is this getting any play in the States or is it just another day in the office... Trump running his mouth... pat him on the head and roll him off to the next priceless bit of bullshit.

It is important to understand that a majority of Americans are fully embarrassed and disgusted with our President. The minority is extremely loud and enjoy yelling all over digital media but do not actually represent what most of United States citizens think. Added to this will be the next six months and impending Meuller bombshell shrapnel that will completely decimate what is left of the GOP and remove Trump from office completely.
This country is going through a difficult growth spurt right now and the rest of the world must deal with it too....Sorry.

You simply cannot treat professional career men like the former heads CIA/DIA etc like they were conspiracy theorists or foil headed loonies with a screw loose. The whole basis of cyber warfare is that it is almost impossible to acurately attribute it to a specific team or individual or agency and if attribution is almost impossible it makes accusation plausibly deniable thus he should STFU and listen to those who have a grip on it and take their counsel not the enemy's. This is a war and the Russians are winning it because they have sown dissent and confusion in the ranks of the establishment and tied them up in knots.

The hammer is slowly falling and then time is short (as in months) before Trumps entire farce comes tumbling down. It has already begun and Meuller has not even begun the harsh stuff yet. Meuller is a very intelligent prosecutor as well as ex FBI chief, he has partnered with State attorneys general to make sure what he does sticks. Trump has federal pardon powers but is impotent in State matters. Even if he had the balls to try it would fail and impeachment would follow almost immediately.

Yes BUT... States can file charges independently and as sovereign nations in their own rights (the US is a federation) Trump can't do anything. Accepting a pardon is also a sentence free guilty plea and as such can and WILL be used against defendants in state courts. So unless the governors want to go down with Trump, his pardon powers are a paper tiger.

The key element in a good civil service is esprit de corps---an element notably lacking in American governance and, indeed, in American life in general. The American military and parts of the American business and economic conspiracy often flatter themselves with the delusion that they have infused much esprit de corps into their respective organizations, but, in fact, the only area of American life wherein you see a notable degree of this spirit is within sporting teams.

In societies which are more civilized than that of America and whose civil services rise above the sorry, slovenly American example, honors play an important part in creating and maintaining a high level of esprit de corps within the civil service---and, indeed, within many other social institutions. We need to make a serious study of the use of honors and non-monetary perquisites to stabilize the morale of governance and society.
