Right now, I am studying for a European history exam and I want a clarification of the following:

Nobles of the sword - military merit.
Nobles of the robe - purchased bureaucratic merit.

Am I correct?

Why not give us some more information to go on? Against which background would one find nobles of the sword and nobles of the robe?
