It is awesome that the teacher didn't just blow it off (and knew enough chemistry to realize it might be a possible molecule).

I had a few of those "blow it off" type teachers. But then I was going to school before astronaut Alan Shepard made his first space flight in May of 1961.;)

It's not even just that, but that the teacher actually recognized that the molecule might actually be stable and might not have been discovered yet. He had to have at least a decent background in chem to know that.

Very true.

I used to love chemistry when I was in high school. I even memorized much of the periodic table. But when it came to different molecular structures, I could only understand the most basic ones, like NaCl (salt) and H2O (water).
