It is awesome that the teacher didn't just blow it off (and knew enough chemistry to realize it might be a possible molecule).

I had a few of those "blow it off" type teachers. But then I was going to school before astronaut Alan Shepard made his first space flight in May of 1961.

It's not even just that, but that the teacher actually recognized that the molecule might actually be stable and might not have been discovered yet. He had to have at least a decent background in chem to know that.

Very true.

I used to love chemistry when I was in high school. I even memorized much of the periodic table. But when it came to different molecular structures, I could only understand the most basic ones, like NaCl (salt) and H2O (water).
