According to a muslim priest in Arabian countries, child marriages are not against their religion.
He also added that whoever opposes it is doing injustice to those children.
As we all educated people know that it is a social taboo, so what is your take on this?

Really? In my country, child marriage is not accepted by religion and law.
There is 1 case in November 2008, a rich old man, Puji Syekh, tried to marry 12 years old girl.
But his plan buried after this plan issued to public.

I have to say that I do not support such things. Even just the thought of it is ridiculous. For a marriage to even work, it would take two mature people that have financial stability, love .... and so on. Kids at that age don't even know what love is.

I thought Muslims were against child marriage last time I checked? or is that just for sex before marriage.. I'm not sure, but I don't think there's too many religions that accept child marriage. Those were only in the olden days (Shapespeare days :p), and child marriage just wouldn't look right.. I mean if you marry someone, say at the age of 14, your at the age where you have just entered (or in the process) puberty, so trying to take care of your children while you have to take care of yourself wouldn't look good.

I think you people need to get your facts right. Child marriage is allowed as in betrothel. But the couple co-habit only after both of them attain adulthood.
You can refer to this link for more clarity on this topic.

Child marriages are banned in India long time ago and the legal age of a guy is 21 and for where as for girl is 18. but 2-3 yrs ago supreme court has come up with a rule that if both guy and girl are above 14yrs and wanted to get married by their will ( love marriage) they can get married. This rule has come up basically to bring down the rate of eloping in teenagers.

I just dont understand how 2 kids can be promised to each other when they arent old enough to understand the bond of soulmates or of love? This is a concept that is beyond me.

I am sure a lot of concepts are beyond you...like the theory of relativity for example! And that was only expounded by a mortal! How on earth can you comprehend something the Almighty has ordained?

There is no such concept in Shariah, Islam says that the Muslims must marry as soon as they become adults, meaning having power to reproduce, so that they will not get lured to immoral activities.

It is their religion, they like it and they wouldn't like you saying anything bad about it. Well I think it is a good thing that even babies can marry, life is life, life is hard and sad!

I believe that it is their culture and in their culture it's not wrong. In our culture it is taboo. But then again, who's to say who's culture is better than the other. Just because we don't understand it doesn't make it wrong for them.

Personally I couldn't imagine marrying off a kid, but I was raised differently. That's my opinion on the matter though.

I'm not a complete novice to Shariah law, even though I admit I'm no expert.
But I've never ever heard of something like this, it's more something that I see idiots spreading, like the Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him had it off with a three year old...

Even if agreements are made, when the child turns of age its their choice, anything done against their will I believe is against the nature of Islam.
