Tecoyah, I'm among the proponents of the unilateral, substantially market driven trade proposal described within Wikipedia’s “Import Certificates” article. It's recommended for any nation that otherwise would experience annual trade deficits of goods.

The policy is superior to tariff or pure free trade policies. It would significantly reduce, if not entirely eliminate USA's annual trade deficits in manner that would increase our annual GDPs, numbers of jobs, and their median wage more than otherwise.

China has already won the trade war against the US, and the EU is piling on with China and against the US to clinch it. Now it's going to become a matter of how long the R congress critters will stand behind Trump and see their country torn apart and destroyed.

And now the EU is threatening more against the US because of Trump's complete embargo against Cuba. The US still hasn't come to understand that Cuba is lost to Russia and China. China is pouring billions into Cuba now with likely the gameplan to set up a base from which to attack the US if it becomes necessary.

US aggression is too late. China and Russia are standing up and they have the nukes needed to convince the US that it could become a glass parking lot within the hour if it's found necessary.

Russia has brought peace to Syria and the US has lost it as a possession. Venezuela is likely safe now too. And Cuba can no longer be harmed by US aggression.
