Ahhhh ... but aren't humans mammals as well? So if a culture should be cannibal in nature, would that then be OK too?Eating cats/dogs is very unappealing to me as well, but the reason that we feel that way and those who eat them don't is because of the culture we have lived in. In reality, cats and dogs are mammals just like cows and pigs. Personally, I don't eat cows and very rarely pig too because it really is very similar.
To that culture it is. Something being culturally "OK" is a matter of perspective. Cannibals don't see themselves as evil beings, just like people who eat cats and dogs don't see themselves as such and those who eat pigs and cows don't either.Ahhhh ... but aren't humans mammals as well? "I would never eat dog meat," said Louisa Yong, as she clutches her pet cocker spaniel. "It's so cruel!"
I have to agree. When I start thinking about the flesh I am eating, when I am eating it, I also think that I should stop eating it. Just imagine the inhuman treatment of animals as food for us, i.e. chickens that are harvested in awful circumstances and cows that are injected with hormones to produce milk on a massive scale. Something of the artificial parts of that is stripping away health from the food we are eating. Probably better to go completely vegetarian and grow our own food.Personally, I prefer to not eat any of them, although I do have pork once in a blue moon although even that I am thinking of stopping all together.
There is nothing wrong with eating any meat, barring cannibalism.
Some I like very much. Why is human flesh so special?![]()
Do so.And I presume you don't eat pork, obviously.
Some I like very much.
Do so.
For some their cats do compare better.Sex aside, I suppose, to some extent, you can be emotionally close to a pet. That's not to say my cat compares in any way to my friends.
Agreed. Emotional is a good description. When I was in the Northern parts of Thailand a few years ago I saw dogs in a little wooden cart ready for slaughter. It just completely overwhelms a person if you are accustomed to dogs as pets and man's best friend. That picture is still vivid in my mind. It was in one of those tribal villages not far from the Golden Triangle.I just find it odd that western emotions would actually have Asian nations forsaking a perfectly acceptable source of protein.
