Dalai Lama to visit Washington despite China's opposition

Despite escalating China-US tensions of late, the White House has confirmed that the Dalai Lama will be visiting Washington later this month. Beijing has been protesting the potential meeting, but it looks like it will be happening anyway. An interesting development and one that can certainly have big implications for both US-China relations as well as what the future of Tibet may be. Thoughts?

We should not let China dictate who comes and goes here. But we should also quit spending their money.

odge, I really like your way with words. Hope the Dalai Lama will pack warm clothing, probably going to be freezing cold by his standards when he gets to Washington DC. Agreed however, China should not dictate, but probably they had to as a standard protest, and the US will have to allow the Dalai Lama in as a standard ignoring the protest move.
