I do believe in god but even i don't go to the church regularly.i go there on holiday's and special occasions.I am not against anybody who is an atheist because it is a person's way of living life,i really wouldn't mind a person who is an atheist but is not hurting anyone and living his life in a way which is not questionable to anyone and it really doesn't matter if you go to church or not untill you are true in your heart, you believe in god.

I am technically a Christian, but I am not the most religious person. I do believe that there is a god out there, but I just don't know who it really is. I think religion is more about having faith than idolizing icons.

Wow...I'm lonely now. I'm an atheist. That's about it. I used to believe in a God but simply put I just can't believe that there is a God. If I had to pick a religion, I would probably go Wiccan anyway. All major religions are basically the same, so you might as well belong to one that occasionally has moderately attractive women dance naked in the woods :).

That's about it though. I doubt that the thread creator intended for this to be a thread on evolution or religion as a whole, so I won't derail it though. I will just say that I'm a little worried that you really don't believe in evolution. It's established scientific fact. Evolution just says how humans got here anyway, not how it all started. There's still wiggle room in creation since we don't have a solid scientific theory on that (sorta hard to go back 6 billion years...although the latest telescopes are giving more and more information about what other planets were like 2 billion years ago, so we are getting closer).

The reason you think there's no God is because Satan has just owned you.

God exists in faith.
Without this faith, you cannot believe in a God, so there's no point in believers having to prove it to you.

I believe in God because 1) I was born into a Christian family 2) I accepted him at a later age 3) I've experienced 'coincidental' times that felt miraculous 4) I've felt his presence. These aren't facts, so I haven't proven anything, nor do I intend to.

Also, I believe in this infinate universe that there needs to be some sort of deity to control it. Since I was provided the stories from the Bible and its teachings, I picked up Christianity fairly easily.

To counter-argue, Christianity:
How did the universe form without God?
My answer would be that there is no relation with time and matter. Matter existed before whatever time we can imagine.
If you want, you can consider matter to be a metaphor for our God. It is the beginning and the end.

You need to believe in God and what he did for us to go to heaven. It's just that simple. However, you can tell yourself that you believe, but if your actions don't match your thoughts, your thoughts aren't fully your own.

Religion helps you make different decisions according to faith and the teachings, which is why so many Christians blindly voted Yes on prop 8. You don't necessarily become a good person when you accept faith, but your path is led in a different direction.

Also, there are no promises that Christians live good lives.

Well, Satan's probably going to have to go a few rounds with Cthulhu to get a hold of me. I sorta made some promises up in Massachusetts awhile ago...might have to practice drawing my Elder Signs.

Joking aside, I'll play devil advocate to my own position to shed a bit more light on the usual atheist. You're right about the universe to a point. We can tell now that it was created at some point through the Big Bang though (or a similar expansion). There are several clear pieces of evidence. That said, we have no idea what caused the Big Bang and we might not ever know. We also don't know what causes stars to form (there are a few theories about galactic shock waves floating around in the community).

Too bad you're believing in the fake god :( lol j/k (no but seriously..) if I get into much more of this, I would probably sound like some Christian ass trying to convert a Muslim into my own religion, and that would make all Christians look bad, so I guess I don't really have anything to say to you.

However the thread starter should have specified which God we believe in, because there's many other types of God (unless you meant God as in just a supreme being that floats in the sky)

Wow! How did I miss this? Well...time to update your GK (If you have any!)
Muslims now outnumber all other religion on earth including Catholics. They constitute 19%+ of the world's population, 2% ahead of Christians!

You do sound like an ass though! :D

I believe in God, in fact everyone does, even those who claim otherwise know He exists, they just hate Him so deny His existence and do against His will.

Depends, people have different ideas on God. Some believe he is the creator, the all perfect. Some believe he does not exist, but represents the true peace of man. Some believe he is nature, and many other ideas.

With all those, and with days of countless and endless thought, I cannot find a better description that the all perfect.

This type of post screams ignorance. You cannot hate something you don't believe exists - how hard is that for you people to understand?

IF he did exist, then yes, I would dislike him - for many reasons. Since he does not exist - I have no feelings towards him. What I do hate, is what the belief in him brings about - religion and what not and all the hate that comes along with that.

What exactly makes you think you know more about what other people feel than they do?
