Ecuador’s Assange stunt

...It is unlikely Assange would get a fair trial in the U.S., which is gripped by national security mania. At best, he would likely face a long sentence in solitary confinement in one of America’s dreaded “supermax” prisons under conditions human rights groups call torture.

In a clear violation of the Vienna Convention, Britain is threatening to arrest Assange by invading Ecuador’s embassy, provoking a major diplomatic crisis that would threaten its own diplomatic posts around the world to invasion.

Why, one asks, is Britain stirring up such a storm when Assange was only a visitor? Australia has ducked this issue, preferring to throw its citizen to the wolves. Sweden and Britain have come across as being rather too compliant with the U.S. demands.

Just about everyone knows that Washington is behind efforts to corral Assange and ship him to America for trial though his alleged misdeeds were all done outside the US...

Will he spend the rest of his life in an embassy or there is a way to run from this blockade ?

He's a spy, we don't take kindly to spies (something the Israelis have learned the hard way).

He is not a spy. I think you should look up spy in a dictionary. Assange is no different than a newspaper that has a scoop,he is a journalist and a whistleblower and the American government are a bunch of devious murderers.

He used a solder to get vital Intel ranging from sensitive negotiations, to weak points in our denseness. He is a spy (working for a gov't isn't a prerequisite of espionage) and Manning is a traitor.

True, but, they should not send him to a place where he may face life imprisonment or the death penalty.

After guarantee it he most likely accept the judgment in Sweden. But I know that UK can not dare to do anything that upset the US and even can break it's own domestic law.

No, Always there will be a lot of poeple willing to do it. Leakage process, defects and neglects of its system that's what the US should focus on, instead of runing after only a man.

You are incorrect. He never used anyone as what supposedly happened was a soldier submitted information to wikileaks, wikileaks never asked him to do anything so Assange is not a spy.Mr Manning has not even been convicted of anything as yet but you have him guilty of being a traitor,I guess innocent until proven guilty is not something that you adhere to. The only people who tend to think Assange is a spy are Americans who watch fox news as far as I can see,the majority of the world think otherwise, that would make you a member of a very very small minority who tend to believe any old BS trotted out by the US government and rightwing fools on American TV.

We Americans (and it doesn't matter what our ideological views our) tend to have a 'show no mercy' attitude when it comes to traitors and spies.

We're the minority which is why the British are thinking about raiding the embassy. :giggle: Keep living in your dream world.
