WASHINGTON — The F.B.I. raided the Rockefeller Center office and Park Avenue hotel room of President Trump’s longtime personal lawyer, Michael D. Cohen, on Monday morning, seizing business records, emails and documents related to several topics, including a payment to a pornographic film actress.

The searches open a new front for the Justice Department in its scrutiny of Mr. Trump and his associates: His longtime lawyer is being investigated in Manhattan; his son-in-law, Jared Kushner, is facing scrutiny by prosecutors in Brooklyn; his campaign chairman is under indictment; his former national security adviser has pleaded guilty to lying; and a pair of former campaign aides are cooperating with Mr. Mueller. Mr. Mueller, meanwhile, wants to interview Mr. Trump about possible obstruction of justice.

Because of lawyer client privilege, it doubtful that anything they find can be used against Trump. This complicates the investigation of Trump rather than helping it.

Plus it show an incredible amount of gubmint overstep, and frankly ABUSE. Unfortunately, "draining the swamp" will need to include housecleaning to eliminate examples like these.

Fair-minded middle-of-the-roaders consider the crimes committed by Hillary Clinton and wonder at the double standard. She and her team smashed phones and computers to bits after the evidence therein was subpoenaed. Oops. Hillary Clinton and her chief minion Cheryl Mills claimed attorney-client privilege when Mills, herself, was under investigation for obstruction. Did Hillary answer any of the FBI’s questions? We don’t know as they didn’t record the session. Oops. And then, classified emails showed up on Hillary’s assistant’s husband’s computer who is in prison for pornographic interaction with a minor online. Has the Clinton Foundation or Huma Abedin’s home or Hillary’s bathroom been no-knock raided yet?

If Trump and his attorney conspired in illegal conduct he would not be covered by the attorney client privilege.

How would YOU like it if authorities conducted regular raids/searches on your private property for no particular reason to find "something" illegal? I think not. You'd sue! - hello?

The "raid" was approved by the management of the justice department and submitted to a federal judge that determined there was probable cause of activities that had been conducted that would void the attorney client privilege. The warrant was executed by the federal attorney from NY after his review and agreement with the documentation presented. The lawyer client privilege is not an absolute right. It looks like that the circle is tightening and there are no easy outs for the Mango Masher who thinks he is above the law. To bring up the argument that Hillary did it to and she was worse is such a juvenile argument and something that a middle school kid would use after getting caught with hiss hand in the cookie jar.

I have done a lot of checking and I can't find "submitted to a federal judge that determined there was probable cause of activities that had been conducted that would void the attorney client privilege. " Again a lot of ifs by Rachel. It could just as easily have been that the attorney was under suspicion and it had nothing to do with Trump.

All I have seen so far is a lot of desperation coming from the left. They thought they had a slam dunk impeachment and keep coming up short. The problem is that the democrats decided they wanted to impeach Trump and now they have to come up with justification. All the time swinging wildly in all directions. Rachel at her best.

I am not emotionally attached and impeaching Trump does not bother me all that much. We would then have Pence as president who would then pick another republican as VP. I suppose the democrats could just keep on impeaching. In the long run, they would be better of with Trump in the 2020 elections. But, the democrats are slow learners.

They think they have something with this Stormy Daniels. Lets assume it is all true. Trump has an affair. She threatens to expose him. Trump asks his lawyer to make it go away and the lawyer pays her off. Now there was nothing illegal about having the affair or paying her to keep quiet since she agreed to it.. So now the democrats say well lets make it an illegal campaign contribution. That is exactly the way it will be presented to the house and they will laugh and tell them to forget it.
